View Full Version : How about a "Binder" version of the guide?

I think the DP Guide #7 is GREAT! I take it in the car with me everywhere I go just in case I come across some games while I'm out. I think you should consider a 3 ring "binder" Version. I only collect games for about 7 of the systems so the guide is kinda overkill for me. But if you were to sell a "Binder" version where I can remove (or add) pages and then only carry the pages for the systems I collect would be GREAT! I would also consider a "CD-rom" version with the guide in PDF format on a cdso I could print out the pages I need.
Just a thought.

Both ideas have been already suggested and are being considered. I'm sure Joe will respond with any more details :)
Welcome to the boards btw... guess you had the same good ideas that a number of others think too ;)

I've got the 4th edition of the DP Guide in a binder, with each page iin a plastic sheet protector as well as the 5th edition that was spiral bound. That said, I definitely prefer the newer bound versions. It's too easy, otherwise, for the pages to be torn lose, and it looks nicer to have a printed spine and a printed front and back cover.
I was thinking that perhaps the sections could be sold separately for people who only collect for one or two systems, but then I discovered that the lists are already available on line. I'd suggest you download and print out only the systems you collect for if you don't like the larger book. As for me, I prefer the bound edition. I'd even like a hardcover version for a coffee table some day!

Going on a limb here, how about including a CD-ROM of PDF's of each of the systems with the book? On one hand, it would be a great asset to those of us who only want to bring info on a couple of systems out with us.
Yet, I can also see how it might not be so good, as the files would be much more easily distributed across the 'net, which would probable cut into the sales of the book.
But, it would be awesome. ;)

do what i just did- go to the online lists and print them, then use a hole punch and youre in business! works like a charm (although youll have to consult the DP7 guide for prices on 8 bit systems)
also- it helps to have a laser printer when you do this

Well,
I think that the ring bound idea is a very good one indeed, however, my reason for it is a little different. My book has been falling apart like crazy. It started with one page, and now groups of pages are falling out. I haven't used it like a madman as I reference it for games I'm not sure about every once in a while, yet it is pretty much doomed. I will probably end up having to put it in a binder anyways when it becomes unusable with the loose pages. ~Matt
