I have a Sega Dreamcast up for auction on ebay and I recieved an email question this morning from a potential bidder. Well, here is the question, this is an exact copy of it:

I am mr daniel beginfield.am interested in buying 3 quantity of your items which are as follows: sega dreamcast consoles,at the price range of $200.I will like to pay you through western union money transfer and I will like you to send me your address as soon as possible so that I will make the payment. My shipping address is as follows: daer seller, Address:Block 94 flt 3 low cost housing estate Town: Isolo City:Lagos, Country:Nigeria Code:23401 Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks.......

What an idiot. Not only does this guy have 0 feedback, but the starting bid on my Dreamcast is $20, so why would he want to pay $200...unless that was a typo. Also, he has the fakest sounding address I've ever heard. Low Cost Housing Estate Town? LOL Give me a break! Not to mention, he's breaking ebay rules by trying to get me to sell him the item before the auction has even ended. Why would I want to waste my time with this loser? LOL

LOL No I do not ship to Africa.

Someone tried to scam me like that and I got some bogus email from "western union" saying my money is on the way.

LOL No I do not ship to Africa.

It would be funny if you sent him a letter with only one line saying "I do not ship to Africa" LOL

Yep, Nigeria is pretty much the scam capital of the world. Money laundering haven.

Tell him to send you the money transfer just for the hell of it just to see what happens. Of course you shouldn't send him the product though as its clearly a scam. Play along with him though.

The thing is, people do fall for this. Maybe not ones this poorly executed, but it does happen often enough for people to keep doing it.

i have people that message me on almost every auction asking me to end the auction early so they can buy it. I hate that. I hope no one here ends their auctions early. there is no fun in that. I usually set the price at double what I expect to get, and I stipulate that they Paypal me before I end the auction. Not surprisingly, I've had 0 takers. LOL

Sadly enough I'm sure people do or they would stop trying.

Yeah people still fall for it indeed but this one was so poor, if someone would ask to end it early (what i usually don't do but if no one bids i would) i only deal with paypal, that way i would have a bit insurance.
