I never expected this auction to end for this much.

What game(s) made it go for so much?

I think it's a stretch to make alot off of that lot, although I guess you can get $300 for a boxed Qubes (Ian's prices come from Ian's world) and maybe $125 for the boxed Xonox games. And then there's a ton of $10-$30 titles.
If the games are in really good shape or mint, he could actually make money turning them around- but not double his money or anything.
Neat stuff!

Colecovision items have really gone up in price. 2-3 years ago you could buy the boxed games for a decent price. Now everything is expensive. I don't think that $1,400 is a stretch for this lot. There are a lot of difficult titles in there.

Looks like there were small bids up to $600 US and then the last 3 bidders really went crazy!

I don't get the high ending price for this lot. About half of the boxed games are pretty common. Sure, there are a few rarities, but considering these aren't even necessarily mint condition, I don't get what all the excitement is about.

I've got to admit, its tough to complete a collection of complete Colecovision games because some are quite hard to find and when you do find them the price can sometimes get up there.
But this...
This is only going to make it that much more difficult to find and afford the ones that I'm still looking for.

I guess you guys havn't watched Adam (BuyAtari) go after things he wants. You dont usually stand in his way and walk out with the item. ;)

The Qubes in this lot wasn't boxed though (just the cart and manual), and $300 for it CIB is a biiiiiggg stretch (at least for eBay). I've nicked Qubes sealed for less than $150 off eBay for the CV in the recent past. I've seen a few other get it complete in box (sound condition) for $100 or less in the past year, as well. Don't believe I've ever seen it hit for $300 on eBay ever.
I can only think of three or four bidders who might pay over $100 for a couple of the XonoX titles in this lot, most of whom are overseas, and most of whom have already obtained said titles. Not saying it isn't possible, but one would have to go to those folks or know how to attract 'em.
Said this over on AtariAge, and I'll say it here ... $1400 for this particular lot is pretty much retail. There really were only a handful of titles in there that can't be gotten with the smallest bit of patience. Nice lot, decent buy if willing to go all out for it, but it's no turn-around money-maker.

i personally feel this price was way, way too high.
qubes has no box- there are only three boxed xonox games, and they arnt incredibly hard to come by. tomarc is fairly hard and worth over 100 boxed, in my opinion... and sir lancelot shoudl come close to 100.
tournament tennis is the telegames version, which takes it from being a 100$ item to a 30$ item.
motocross racer is also telegames-
makes me glad that im only missing one box for my colecovision collection- because prices lately have been foolish.

Question out of curiosity: which box are you missing? I think I have it.
I agree with your sentiment on this lot, but if someone wanted those titles at once, it wasn't a terribly outrageous amount, just quite high for eBay (which is why I keep throwing out the word "retail"), especially for a lot.
Prices for CV items have been coming down a little here and there now that most of the heavy overseas bidders have turned their attention elsewhere. A lot of the truly outrageous final amounts that remain can be linked back to a collection of about six regular bidders. I'm sure in most cases the motivation is an impulse to quickly complete their respective collections. Outrageousness is largely confined to boxed items and homebrews at this point.

Well come on now its not really my fault. If a few of those other guys didn't bid this auction would have gone CHEAP !

Part of your logic holds up (you got mugged by two from the gang-of-six+ I alluded to above), but the second half doesn't. I know of at least a couple bidders who had bids in at the close that weren't recognized by the system because it shot up like it did.
There was a lot of ground between $600 and $1400 that would have been covered by others if you and the other two hadn't placed bids. That's always the great mystery of eBay: who was trying to snipe without getting on the board because of others. In this case, there were definitely others trying to get in bids.
Whether any other hypothetical amount would constitute CHEAP is moot. Regardless, this is the single priciest eBay sale of ColecoVision-only items I've seen in four or so years. If you believe it was worth it, so it is.

right, i see what you mean by retail, but people rarely pay retail for games when they buy a lot of 50, thus my opinion that it is way overpriced.
even if paying retail, i think it was a little high.
price is irrelevant, however, if the point is solely to amass a lot of games quickly.
i am missing the US box for "Sir Lancelot / Robin Hood" Xonox double ender.
I have every other US box and lots of French and UK variations on those.

On eBay, I haven't seen one in the last four years. And I don't miss scanning many auctions. I can't think of anyone who has ever claimed to have SL/RH boxed, or even an off-eBay seller who has.
Just to second that I've never seen one despite looking.
