I was wondering if anybody used anything special as a background behind them, when they play EyeToy games.

Like a white board of some type. Or a blue board of some type or something.

I would think that you wouldn't want a busy background, in terms of sofas and pictures on the wall, etc, etc, behind you while playing a EyeToy game, I'm guessing it would be less than ideal when playing that game. I'm also guessing that you need alot of light in the room.

Anybody know of any tricks so that the EyeToy will look as good as it can possibly look, like with lighting or a particular background?

I know it's a cheap web cam, and it can only do so much, but I would like to get it to look as close to Sony's advertisements as possible.

I'm wondering if the EyeToy for the PS3 or if the XBOX 360 device will make any improvements in this regard.

I find that uniform lighting is more important than the quality of the background, in most cases. As long as you're in front of a motionless background, you should be okay. Use desk lamps from a distance of at least 6-10 feet if possible if you need more player lighting.

Heh. Not by a long shot. Your best option is to use a smaller TV so you don't see the horrifying MPEG compression artifacting.

I was able to hook up/use mine w/out changing the lighting, moving the furniture around, etc. I use it both upstairs & downstairs; the upstairs is much brighter sunlight-wise (a large picture window, the rec room downstairs is below ground level w/ smaller windows) & I dont have to adjust anything.

Someone I used to "discuss" systems w/ via email sent me an article once about people having to hold pieces of white paper in their hands while playing EyeToy so the camera would pick up the movements better, but I never had to do anything like that.

I have to turn on every light in the area when using mine. Sometimes background objects like a picture or my sofa will make dead zones where it's hard to interact with things. But then again, I guess my living room is still pretty dark overall.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. I wonder if you could get the same effect with a pair of those little white cotton gloves.

I actually don't even have a EyeToy yet. I plan on getting one very soon, just because I think my little kids will really get a kick out of it.

As for the background, I think I'm going to try putting a white sheet behind the player. I'll experiment with the lighting.
