Since I got the O2 last year, I think I've turned it on about three times. I have about 15 games for this system and there's not one that I really care to play again. On top of that, it's a big ass machine and I could use the shelf space. This is not to say I want to sell the O2. I may hook it up in another 10 years, have a good chuckle, and pack it up again. IMO the best thing about the O2 and its games was the box artwork. It's fantastic. I'm not sure if the system just didn't have the specs to produce decent games or Magnavox just didn't invest enough in development. Farwell O2, see you in 2013. ;)

Hehe, I went through the same thing.

I really dug Monkeyshines and the KC games for a while, but I haven't had any urge to play them in a loooong time. Not that they aren't fun, but it's not worth hauling everything out again for those two games.

Just my opinion, your milage may vary.

(PS- if anyone wants to buy an O2 with the Voice and 25 some odd games, talk to me. I really need the closet space back!)

I'm an O2 fan. I guess it's one of those systems that you can't really put a finger on just exactly what it is that strikes you about it, but it'll always be a system that I play every now and then. Between Killer Bees (just a stellar game for the time), the KC games and Turtles, the O2 does a really nice job. And no flicker! Plus there's that really groovy box art and unabashed self! promotion! on! everything! It's beautiful. :-D

Just don't get me started on Alien Invaders - Plus! Ack!

Obviously I champion the O2 cause, but even I understand it's an acquired taste. Nevertheless, I say that certain games like Pick Axe Pete, Turtles, Killer Bees, Attack of the Timelord, the KC games and UFO make it worth keeping around even if you feel lukewarm about the rest of the library.

If I discarded all the consoles I didn't play regularly, I'd say farewell to probably 10 machines... but I still want to keep them around, because I never know when I'll get the urge to fire them up.

I do sympathize with you about the amount of space the O2 takes up though. :) The hazards of a built-in keyboard...

Dang! I forgot about Pick Axe Pete! That is my fave O2 game hands down and the only reason I had the thing hooked up for so long. (KC's Crazy Chase! a close second, after I got The Voice!) It's not a system without it's charm, it just taking up too much space! :D

I'd hook mine up again if not for the fact there isn't any room on my power strip for any more power supplies...the price paid of getting a gamecube and a neo geo!

Am I that predictable? LOL

I know that not everybody digs the O2, but for me, it's a perennial thing - it's the only console I have, aside from the PS1, which is on display "topsides" (as opposed to the other consoles, which live safely in the bottom compartment of my entertainment center). I always get a big kick out of it, and it always challenges me.

I wonder if the fondness for the O2 is divided between those who have collected it as an aftermarket item, and those who grew up with it?

By the way, Captain Wrong, just box that thing up and send it to my brother. I keep meaning to get one to send to him. :)

There's something about the O2 that interests me, even though I've not even seen one in real life or played a real one.

I live here in a small town and there's a small mom and pop hardware store that's has two new O2 consoles (boxed) sitting in the front window for atleast the last 20 yrs. I can remember them being there in the early '80s, by then I was getting into the T.I.

I've been trying to buy them for the last year or so but the old guy won't take what I offer ($25 ea.), the old lady keeps saying "but they're new". They have the original price tag of $99 something on them.

*Captain Wrong - how much you asking for your O2 stuff?

I got dogged on for having a O2 when I was a kid...

But the werid thing is, all those friends who made fun of me for having an Odyssey still loved playing my games.

I had both KC games, Pick Axe Pete, Attack of the Timelord, Killer Bees, Turtles, and the very rare Demon Attack.

My friends loved them. True, they wouldn't admit it. But why would they want to play them every time they came over to my house, if it wasn't true??
