I am looking to buy non Neo Geo versions of Metal Slug (full versions, not NG Pocket versions) and was wondering if my list of re-released titles was complete. Any help?
MS1- PS1 (Japan only)
MS2- (?)
MSX- PS1 (US)
MS3- Xbox
MS4&5- PS2/Xbox
Is there any versions of MS2 released on any other console other than the Neo Geo? How about MS1? Any versions other that the Japanese version? I don’t have a mod PS1 and can’t play this title! Nor do I want to sped huge $$ getting the AES version.

MS1's best port is for Saturn. (Import)
MS2, there's a Neo CD version.
Honestly if you just want to play the games, just dl the roms of the older ones.
And MS3 for Xbox is not the same as the original. (Continue system is different.)

Slug 3 is on the PS2 in Japan, though I'm sure that doesn't help you.

Unless you are a completist (in which case you really should be buying these for Neo Geo anyway,) I woudn't worry too much about MS2. Just get MSX instead. It's all the good of 2 made better with none of the bad.

Metal Slug 3 Xbox is a port of the PS2 version but yea...continue system was changed.
It's a shame that the same love and attention wasn't shown to Metal Slug 4 (PS2 jpn) and Metal Slug 4&5 (US PS2/Xbox). The bonus features on MS3 were AWESOME.
Tangent - today at work I decided to play a little Metal Slug during my lunch break. Finally back up to stage 3 before I die, but that machine gun midboss is giving me trouble again (handled him fine last week, but today I couldn't get a decent position below him).
Instead of credit feeding to see if I could clear the game in 8 credits or less, I just quit playing. Maybe later tonight I'll be able to kick his ass and get back up to stage 5.

I bought NSX for the PS1 and will get the PS2 version of 4&5 but the still leaves me hanging on 1&3. By what I’ve read 3 is the best with 1 coming in at a close 2nd. I had an Xbox at one time and played 3 and found it to be an amazing title, I’d really like to have it but there’s not PS2 release and I will not buy another Xbox just for one game (although it would be cheaper than buying an AES version!)
Look like when it comes to MS1 I’m poo out of luck. I can’t afford the AES version ($2000+) and won’t be picking up a MVS system anytime soon.
Bummer…
I guess I could get my PS1 modded and get the Jp version.

I wonder why Metal Slug 3 wasnt released for PS2 in the US. I have 3 sealed copies of the PAL version.

I wonder why Metal Slug 3 wasnt released for PS2 in the US.
Because Sony is retarded and required it to be bundled with another game to be released here.

Sony…retarded…
Gee…
Who woulda thunk? (I hate Sony, they can eat my balls).
Well, they blew a perfectly good (actually, amazing game) game out their ass on that one.
