in the new EGM theres a rumour that namco is thinking about bringing the series back in 3D.

Hmm...

and I say again

Hmm...

Mixed feeling about that. Great series, but the 2d to 3d thing has so rarely been done well. Plus I strongly doubt gamers today would appreciate the game play (walk around, whomp stuff, etc.) that made it great in the first place, so they'd probably try to add missions, a story line with cutscenes, unlimited continues, make it easier, etc., etc., etc...

Hmm...

Good points CW! However, I must say that if done properly, Splatterhouse could be a KICK ASS 3D franchise. Maybe Namco will add as much love as Retro did for Metroid Prime...but I bet that it turns out more like Blaster Master: Blasting Again :(

My sentiments exactly.

As long as it has some good action, not a Resident Evil style yawn-fest...

I have a bad feeling about this...

A new Splatterhouse would be nice, but we've recently seen a lot of games (Hunter, Silent Hill, Zombie Revenge) that use gruesome aesthetics and gameplay similar to those that Splatterhouse employed. An action game filled with gore and monsters might not have the appeal it once did, even if it has all the panache of the old Splatterhouse titles.

Whoa. What was so bad about Blaster Master: Blasting Again?
