We had a Discussion about that in an German Forum the last Days. So what do you think are the rarest and most expensive Games for SNES & SFC (PAL & NTSC)? :)

I don't collect SNES stuff anymore but Aerofighter, Fun & Games, and Speed Racer/Mountain Bike Rally are probably the rarest production games. The Donkey Kong Competition cart and the Starfox Super Weekend cart are the rarest overall. Chavez II, Bebe's Kids, Final Fight Guy, Zero are others that are right at the top of the rarity heap.

There was a similar discussion recently about the rarest Super Famicom titles at NTSC-UK: http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=43252

what german board was that?

well, the answers for the US are above

for PAL, well, there are quite a lot of really rare games (if you want them boxed, that is) in Europe, i won't tell you :P but Aero the Acro-Bat 2 and Syvalion are damn rare :)

for SFC, not too sure, i just know it's NOT the stuff you see on ebay LOL Adol should be able to give you a better answer, i only know i'm interested in all those rpgs and shmups and those of course are the expensive ones :/

here in japan there are some special cartridges like from tournaments or special price games from mags.

magical drop 2- sfc - bunka housou version - not for sale- sells at 500-900$.

Well, are you talking about SFC released games,or "hibaihin" games ( not for sale, like Yoshi Cookie Oven Version,Kunio Dodgeball Tournament,etc..)?
Hibaihin ones are WAY more expensive but i don't know if you officialy consider them :)

hydr0x

In released games, the most expensive SFC Games are:

Fire Emblem Trakia 776 DELUXE Pack
Final Fight Tough
Rendering Ranger (i saw it sold some weeks ago for $300)
and some "strange" other games like 美食戦隊薔薇野郎 (if youc an read it ),a game from Virgin Interactive as well

Oops sorry,i thought the topic was "the most expensive one" :)
there is plenty of rare ones, there 1450 titles you know :)
i'll try to mind about it

Well you don't need to count in the "hibaihins" but the topic asked for the most r.....wait a sec - right...they are only expensive not really rare.

I would say that Far East of Eden Zero - Shonen Jump Version is the rarest Snes/SFC game. I think there were less than 50 copies made. The Dumper bought the game for something like $2000 just to get it dumped.

Adol
09-08-2005, 12:48 PM
Once again, this IS a "hibaihin" game, not a "released officially" one

That way,a japanese guy sells Kunio Dodgeball Tournament for $5000 RIGHT NOW :)

you know what i love about sfc?? you can get dozens of interesting games for next to nothing because there are so many different ones LOL

mh good? i don't know it's one of those complete track on one screen racing games from back in the day, just with the Hanna Barbera characters... it's a late release here in Europe and it's at least uncommon, i haven't 100% checked how rare it is, but i could imagine around an R5

What the crap is Yoshi Cookie Oven Version , anyway? I found a ROM of it at some point and it made no sense.

Whats about Final Fantasy IV Easy Type?

I think this is too Rare. Or I am wrong? I have get this only with luck cheap, because the seller has sold it as Final Fantasy IV. But I have see on the picture, that it must be the Easy Type and it was the Easy Type as I get it. :)
How much must you normaly pay for this one?

I can guarentee you that it isn't rare. Final Fantasy games in Japan are like sports games in the US.

i wouldn't be 100% sure about this, it's Easy Type, you know, it came out way after the standard FFIV and i don't think many japanese saw a reason to buy this :/

Final Fantasy 4 Easy Type is quite easy to get,yes..more expensive than FF4,5,6buit definately easy to get

Yoshi Cookie Oven version has a different box, manual&sticker, and there is some changing in the games..not much, but since it is a "special version" of the game,it has been printed to VERY FEW copies, and the game is extremely expensive...

Have you seen the ROM? There's some vast, confusing adventure mode of some sort featuring Yoshi wandering around kitchens.

Not for Sale stuff is one issue, I think those should be treated seperately - when I was looking at SFC not for sale demos on eBay a year back, one of DreamTR's listings went for a pittance while somebody else was charging literally 14 times as much, at least.

One of the rarest SFC games I've run across was Rendering Rangers R2 - overall excellent game from Rainbow Arts; it's basically another Turrican but with actual Contra-style aiming during the wide-open shooter sequences, which represent welcome changes (those have always been the things turning me off Turrican - cramped layouts and straight-ahead Psycho-Niks Oscar style aiming, which is horrible when you consider what a four-way pad is capable of).

In a few days, I should have a nice article on Rendering Ranger on Snes Central, including pics of the unreleased European version (Targa).

Pics of the box, or were there differences in the screenshots? In any case, good work! I'll be looking for it.

The graphics are somewhat different. I will likely do a side-by-side comparison of the shots if possible. Targa was never released, and the screenshots are from someone who I suspect personally knows the developer.

Classic game, too...though more than a bit strange (you gotta talk to Kid Fenris about that, though).

I was gonna check the "Online Rarity Guide" but it's crapped out. Anybody know when it will be back up?

Besides the SF and DK comp paks, I've got Captain Novolin by Novo Nordisk/Raya. Grabbed it from a Movie Gallery for 5 bucks. What's the rarity on it?

Captain Novolin is decently rare (I think it gets a 5). Horrible game. It certainly goes into Scuptured Software hall of shame.

So what is actually the rarest game? I hear that Kunio-kun no Dodge Ball Zenin Shuugou Tournament Special Gold Cartridge is the rarest, but then someone here mentioned that Far East of Eden Zero - Shonen Jump Version is the rarest (there are only 50 copies). So what is the rarest SNES/SFC game ever?

Yeah, those are pretty rare ones, too. But they are not the rarest SNES/SFC games that exist. Super Famicom Wars is one of the coolest games for the SFC and one of the rarest. Rare+cool=Very good. I'm looking for the rarest SNES/SFC game ever.

We have Far East of Eden Zero - Shonen Jump Version (about 50 copies) and Kunio-kun no Dodge Ball Zenin Shuugou Tournament Special Gold Cartridge (no idea how many copies there are). So what is the rarest SNES/SFC game in existence?

I suppose I might as well drag this topic away slightly from its original purpose. ;)

I just recently found a copy of Fun 'n Games in a small town, but the back label is badly damaged. Is anyone who owns a copy willing to take a pic of the back of the cart and post it for me? I'd appreciate it.

Also, this is something I'm definitely keeping an eye out for. You can imagine my surprise to see this thing in a movie rental store that was clearing out old inventory because I would have assumed anything like this was long, LONG gone.

They're rare,not incredibly rare.
Wizardy 1-2-3 is WAY rarer than Super Famicom Wars, and very expensive (complete WITH instructions, it fetches 30000Y+)
