Personally I think Meteos is the best yet, but I have a feeling Zoo Keeper will sneakily win the poll. We'll have to wait and see. Im gonna run the poll for 7 days so lets get voting.

Like I said, Meteos is my personal best, so much to offer, such a great idea, Its got it all. A close runner up for me would be Zoo Keeper, such a happy game, I could pick it up anytime and anywhere and play until my hearts content..

I enjoyed Mr.Driller a lot too. I wasnt too impressed by Puyo Pop Fever, Im a big fan of the Puyo Pop series, but, this just didnt do it for me. Also, Polarium was a big let down in my opinion. Quite overrated.

Also, I've added an 'Other' option, so If theres something I've missed out (hopefully not) or your favourite DS puzzler
is a quirky japanese mahjong related game, please let us know!

Anyway, With a few more Puzzle games to look forward to in the DS' future, such as Puzzle Bobble DS, Pokemon Torouze and the mysterious Touch Panic, I thought a recap of whats already on offer was a good idea.

So, Meteos it is for me (although im secretley rooting for Zoo Keeper :P ) what are your thoughts?

Joe. :)

Zoo Keeper, as it's the only one I've got. Played Meteos in Gamestop the other day, though, and it looked really good.

Zoo Keeper is the one that keeps me playing the most, although Meteos is a damn fine game itself.

I'm with Zoo Keeper (albeit by default, considering I don't own any of the others... yet!)

Still, Zoo Keeper is an incredibly intense, loveable puzzle game. The simple concept remains fresh after many hours of play, and I love to find those last-second matches and score a couple of lucky combos to scramble through to the next level. Fun stuff, indeed!

Now, if only the music wasn't so annoying...

Yeah I played one game with the music on, now it is permanently set to "off" LOL SFX only please!

Meteos for me. It's just fun and it's got a lot of unlockables. Zoo keeper is just a poor mans Bejeweled. Mr. Driller is fun but not as good Meteos.

Polarium is just FUCKING FRUSTRATING. Challenge mode is pretty well unplayable for anyone without super reflexes. The only redeeming part of polarium is the puzzle section which is all that's left in the GBA version.

I'm going to go with Polarium. Yes, I know is frustrating as hell and its very simple in idea. I can't put the damn game down just because I know I can do better.

Zoo Keeper !!! It's the best puzzle game I have ever played. This is the perfect game to use with the stylus.

Mr Driller is also good but could have been done on the GBA (instead of the crappy Mr Driller 2 :/ )

Well the scores currently stand at:

Meteos - 4
Mr.Driller Drill Spirits - 2
Polarium - 0
Puyo Pop Fever - 1
Zoo Keeper - 9

Zoo Keeper has a large lead, but theres still more of you that need to vote. So here's a BUMP.

Also, the guy who said Polarium, I think you forgot to actually place your vote.

Joe. :)

EDIT: As THATinkjar found my bump uninteresting and had nothing but bad things to say about it :P I thought I'd add a random pic of Meteos promo stuff I found on the net.. Pretty cool isnt it..

I'm torn between Driller and ZooKeeper.

ZooKeeper has its 1player moments, and cant be topped for 2player except by BombermanDS (which is a puzzler too!). But Driller is like crack to me so I think its getting my vote.

Well said on Zoo Keeper multiplayer front. I certainly agree there.

As far as Bomberman beeing a puzzler, I can see where your coming from and I did consider putting it as an option. But I decided itd be better off if I didnt. Whats everybody else think? (sorry to change the point of the topic a bit) I can see where Stu is coming from, but to me, Bomberman just isnt a true Puzzle game.

I voted Meteos, though I love Zoo Keeper as well. TO me, portable gaming is all about puzzlers -- I want a game that entertains me for a few minutes (not puzzlers, but the Wario Ware games fit the bill as well for the same reasons).

I play Mr. Driller much more on the WonderSwan (since it is so nice and small). Meteos has so much depth and challenge to me...

Right now, I'm going with Meteos, and I've been playing it relentlessly for the last ten days. I sung my praises on my homepage weblog already, so there's no point repeating that.

What's really surprised me about this poll is Zoo Keeper. I had mo idea the game is so widely loved around here, and I have to admit, my curiosity is piqued. Still haven't played the DS version, but I have tossed around with the flash version here and there. How much different is the DS version from that?

i own all of those, and zoo keeper by far has me playing the most. its simple, humorous, easy to pick up and play and isnt as heart-racing/in-your-face as meteos. i think its like the 2nd or 3rd best DS game so far (kinda sad isnt it...)

The DS version of Zoo Keeper is prettier, has a different selection of music, offers many other modes of play and includes such game mechanics as a combo system.

Personaly I would have voted for Meteos but I had my girlfriend yelling over my shoulder "zoo keeper, zoo keeper..."

We both have DS's and we play all the puzzle games mentioned. We often play against each other and she normally wins at Zoo Keeper and I win at Meteos.

What I find interesting about the multi-player modes for both are that they are quite different than the one player modes. A great round of Meteos can be quite short while a round of Zoo Keeper can go on for a while. Then its reversed when playing multi player. Zoo Keeper is over before it even started it seems and my and my GF can play each other for quite awhile at Meteos vollying full screens of blocks back and forth.

DS is a great system for puzzlers. But the top 2 are easily Meteos and Zoo Keeper

I'm amazed at how good zoo keeper is doing on this poll. I do like the game, but I like Meteos so much better. Just my opinion...

Polarium. Hard as crap, but extreamly addictive. But I haven't played Zoo Keeper yet, but from all the good things I've heard about it, I may have to get it :) .

Zoo Keeper, hands down. I own Meteos and Mr. Driller, too, and Meteos is a close second. For some reason, Meteos reminds me more of a vertical shooter than a puzzle game and Mr. Driller is only made less enjoyable because of the use of the stylus. Zoo Keeper is challenging without being a pain in the @$$.

Puyo Pop fever, then Meteos. Those are the only one though that I have played so far for the DS. I would still like to buy Mr. Driller though.

well judging by how many people have already stated that its the only one they own I'm not. In my eyes (even though my GF made me vote Zoo Keeper) Meteos is the DS game of the year.

I only own Polarium and Meteos, so am not going to vote. However, I really love both but Meteos is by far the greater game. I loved Polarium when I got it and played it for many hours. The challenge mode may be extremely hard but the gameplay kept me going back at it and I still want to finish it although I never pick it up nowadays as I have far too many games to start and far too many to finish. I think one day I will sit down with it and get through that challenge mode, last time I played it, on the plane about a month ago, I got my best score and only played one game. Meteos is addictive as hell and since I got it I've been playing it loads. It is unrelentingly fast but due to being so fun I don't mind carrying on playing. And there are so many ways to play it never gets dull.

I'm really keen on getting Zoo Keeper, always have been, was always waiting for it to be really cheap and now I think I'll wait until I've unlocked everything in Meteos. I'm reasonably interested in Mr.Driller but think I'll prefer the simpler Dreamcast version. Don't think I'll bother with PuyoPop and Puzzle Bobble as I would prefer them on the big screen too (Puzzle Bobble on the NGPC does my head in but maybe with the nice backlit screen the DS will do it good)

Oh, come on... where's all the Puyo Puyo love? :(
Puyo Puyo would be my favorite by far (8 players, one cart!). I still think the others are fun. I guess I am biased though as Puyo Puyo is my 2nd favorite puzzle series by far. Now if only they'd port the N64 version of Wetrix to the DS and I'd be set.

Whoa. I hadn't thought of that! Great idea for a port, Rabid! Make it happen :)

Haha, yeah. I'll get right on that. I'll have them port Tetrisphere too whlie they're at it. Slightly off-topic, is Zed-Two still around? I did a search and it sent me to the Gizmondo site.

I finally found a copy of Zookeeper yesterday, and it's a lot of fun so far. I've discovered, however, something I read about at World of Stewart - the random Quest Mode.

I wrote a piece about this on my DP weblog, and I'm interested in hearing others' insights. So far, I'm not too happy that Quest is so dependant upon random factors, and that this may prevent me from gaining access to Zookeeper's extra hard mode.

It's a fun game, overall, and better than the flash version - I'm sure 2-player is excellent. But Quest bugs me.
