I've always wanted a definitive collection of the average length it takes to beat particular games, why? Well as a working man, I haven't much time to play anymore, and I'd like to know before starting Prince Of Persia: Warrior Within (or any other game) just how long it takes to complete, on average.
If the game is an RPG or has multiple paths, extra levels, etc. Post 2 lengths. For example, in an RPG, if you go from start to finish, it may take 30 hours to complete, or it may take 100 if you go through all the side quests.
So post the CURRENT GEN CONSOLE (PS2, Xbox, NGC) game lengths you know of. And especially some short ones! ;)
To start off, here's some that I can remember. If you feel that I, or someone else is wrong, please add your opinion:
Gamecube
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat - 3-4 Hours / 5-6 with bonus levels
Luigi's Mansion - 8-12 Hours
Resident Evil 4 - 18-22 Hours
Sonic Heroes - 10-15 Hours / Over 4 times that beating it with all characters and unlocking Super Sonic
Wario Ware Inc. Mega Party Game$ - 2-3 Hours / Unlimited if you plan to beat scores and unlock all games
Playstation 2
Gungrave - 4-6 Hours
Katamari Damacy - 8-12 Hours

not having much gaming time either i understand what your trying to accomplish with this
but i dont think you will find definitive lengths of time
every time i hear a complaint that a game is too short i get interested in it - to me that is a good sign.
Im sure not all people play the same way
for example
halo i beat quickly (by my standards) like 5 days (few hours a day) and i have heard complaints that others beat it in a night
knights of the old republic
im at 40 hours and im not even in the middle of the game - and i hear that people beat it in less time than that - complaining that the game is too short
R:evolution - racing life mode i finished in one night
and the ever so wonderfuly crapy Vip (ps1) i also finished in a night
im curious what others will list - i am certainly on the look out for suposed "short" games also
unfortunaly i have so many games and so little time - i would most often play a game for a few min and move the the next one - and complie a HUGE list of "i have to get back to that one"
so i havent beaten a game in a long time - except for extreamly easy ones like vip (it was so bad it was funny and i just had to finish it)

RE4 - 1st 21, 2nd 16
MGS PSX - 1st 12, 2nd 8, many times later. Under 3 for Big Boss Ranking.
MGS TT - 1st, 10 2nd, 8
REmake - 18
DOA2U - 22 hours (i count unlocking everything as completeling it)
Halo 2 - 10
Killer 7 - 10ish i think.
Eternal Darkness - 15
My usual time is 10-20 on the first playthrough depending on the amount of content and cutscenes.

If you are looking for short games:
Celebrity Deathmatch (PS2) - 1.5 hours total to unlock everything.
Beyblade (GCN) - .5 hours to beat, not unlocking everything. Trust me, once through is enough.
I think I'm gonna play VIP tonight.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes = 3.5 hours.
Cutscene skipping or Big Boss Rank?
If you skip the cutscenes, 3.5 hours. With the cutscenes, 4 hours. I skipped. I also got the Big Boss rank (on the original PS1 game, not GC), but that's hardly here nor there, is it?

Just curious because i don't know many people who bothered to get Big Boss in the Twin Snakes. I always include cutsecenes in my game time, especially with something like MGS.

Yes. I agree. It would have been better to include the cutscene time, but when you beat the game and your total time is given to you, the cutscenes aren't added into the sum. That is the time I went off of. So, just add half an hour into the game time. Simply.

Ill plug in one for ICO
5 hours if you play through it for the first time without taking in the beautiful scenery.
about 7 hours if you take in the beautiful scenery, which often involves moving the camera around alot.
So ICO: 5-7 Hours
