Is there any original (mono) GameBoy game collectors out there?

The GameBoy was my second computer game system it was amazing, you couldnt beat the feeling of getting a new gameboy game!

Here are some pics of my small collection. Is any of it rare?

Do original GameBoy games sell for small amounts? Are there many collectors?

Im especially proud of my factory sealed Tetris with the nintendo seam. I had tetris already (just the cart) and then I got the SNES Super Game Boy and Tetris was bundled with it, even though I was only young I decided to keep it sealed and new.

Thats a nice looking boxed collection you have there. I collect for GB as well, but the vast majority of my collection is loose. The GB was my second system as well. I used to play it to death!

I would imagine that your sealed Tetris must be worth some dough-ray-mi.

Any particular game that you are especially hooked on?

since you asked, heres mine:

and random loose stuff:

gameboy is tough to collect boxed for, most people threw the boxes away (even more so then nes)
I even lost a few boxes over the years
wizards and warriorsX, tmnt and castlevania to name a few.

quite a fun system though :-)

I still hang on to a healthy number of original GBA carts, just because the games were unique and didn't show up in "colorized" form later on the GBC or GBA (i.e. the first three Star Wars games, Lock 'n' Chase, Elevator Action, Hyper Lode Runner, Burgertime, the original version of Q*Bert - which was vastly different in lots of fun ways from the later GBC release - and yes, even Tetris).

I'd still like to find a Mr. Do! GB cart someday. :D

my collection is a little meager here, but it makes for a few nice pictures :) first pic is all my complete original GB games, i have a few additional loose carts not pictured.... tetris, castlevania adventures, qix, super rc pro am, metroid 2.

the second picture is all my complete gameboy color games, i have no loose gbc games laying around.

the last pic is all my gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advance, and DS games, all spined on my shelf.

as far as systems, i have a complete original brick (that i received when i was a kid, a complete gameboy pocket, a complete gameboy color, two complete gameboy advance SPs, also i have 2 gameboy cameras and a printer laying around somewhere....

i have in my head that i'd like to collect gameboy down the road sometime.... but i know it will be costly if i want to do it with the boxes and such....

anyway, here are the pics:

I don't have a picture of my collection, but my Nintendo Handheld System Collection is growing steadily.

GB: 24 games - 5 Complete/19 Loose
GBC: 30 games - 7 Complete/23 Loose
GBA: 101 games - 99 Complete/2 Loose
eReader: 23 sets
DS: 16 games - All Complete

Most of the loose ones I picked up during the 3 Classsic Games for $15 Sale at Game Crazy, or the Buy 2 Used get 1 Free Sale at Gamerush.

It is extremely difficult to find complete GB and GBC games in the wild. Part of it is that most people threw the boxes out. But it also has to do with Babbages, FuncoLand and EB throwing them out as well. Same goes for GBA games. Hopefully they won't start doing it with DS games. I think the plastic case helps, but I've seen loose used DS games for sale at Gamestop, Gamerush and Gamecrazy.

My stats are as follows:

18 GB
39 GBC
75 GBA

All complete.

My GB collection is embarassingly meager. It really is had to find them in the wild complete. I do try to show preference to Gameboy and have been known to pass up a uncommon console game to land a common complete GB game.

Highlights that I'm proud of include:

Castlevania Legends
Final Fantasy Adventure
King of Fighters 95
Megaman 2
Nobunaga's Ambition

I am a sort of GB collector. But as you all know, I limit myself to the factory sealed stuff, so my collection is fairly small. It mostcly consists of Pokemon games more than anything, as they form part of my Pokemon game collection

Also, I resent paying more than £20 for a GB game, unless it's an RPG. And even then, £20 is too much for a game.

I don't really pay much attention to my GBA collection as much as I do my other consoles, and sealed GB / GBC / GBA games are so hard to get on eBay due to the amount of Hong Kongie specials out there, as well as lazy sellers who just include a scan for a picture. Plus there are far too many American imports and shrinkwrapped games too.

And you just know i'm going to be bugging you now and forever for that Tetris... How much? ;)

GameBoy collection ~ UK Games ~ 39. games in total

Again, i'd love to say it's all sealed, but it's not! As with the N64 games, most of my games do still have their original wrapping, which has neatly been slit at one end to let me get the cart out. :)

Hey

Some nice collections here, pretty impressive!

All the Gameboy games I own are great in one way or another, they're all instantly playable and addictive..!

Final Fantasy Legend is indeed a cool game, its a very unusual game, you can like choose from about four different races (human.. monster) I cant remember the rest. If your a monster though, you can eat the flesh of defeated enemies to turn into a different monster LOL

Back in the day that was the last GB game I bought, it was pretty steep and as soon as I saw it in the shop I knew I had to get it (Final Fantasy Fan bigtime at the time), hardly anywhere stocked it and I believe it goes for a lot of dough-ray-mi on ebay

I love my sealed Tetris and I couldnt part with it - its the only "sealed" game I have from "back in the day" LOL

Whilst a sealed Tetris is fairly hard to get and does command a bit of cash, ive seen them on ebay every now and then, so they are findable.

I did have loads and loads of loose carts, but I decided to get rid of them all because I hate loose carts LOL sold them all on the bay. Id like to collect some more boxed titles but seems like ebay is the only place to get them.

Its very very very rare to find boxed GB games in the wild :( I saw about 40 games (no shit) at a carboot once, but the seller said they belonged to her son. Each one was individually priced, and they were very expensive (more than they would of gone for on ebay probably) but there were some very interesting titles e.g. Balloon Fight? but I didnt get any because they were just so stupidly priced :-(

Game Boy is the only system I collect Complete. Here's the latest pic of my collection.

http://videogamecollectors.com/albums/neuropolitique/IMG_1736a.sized.jpg

Unfortunately, the pic is not updated, as my collection is growing faster than I can keep up with it. latest count is 52 complete, 49 not complete. I say not complete, instead of loose, because a good number of those are in box, just missing something. Some are loose, though.

Right now, I'm trying to compile a list of variants. Luckily, I've been getting a lot of doubles lately, so I can compare different labels, etc.

You guys have some impressive collections. My question for all you GB collectors: how hard have been for you to get those titles complete? I am interested in collecting GBA stuff and I keep em sealed thanks to the flash cart that I have, GBA carts can get easily because it is current gen stuff, but GB/GBC is preety hard for me to get complete, all I see are loose carts everywhere I look.

Gameboy is pretty cool to collect for. The collection looks nice an uniform, if you have all the boxes. The nice thing is that all the game boxes, from original Gameboy right up to Gameboy Advance are all the same size, and they look good together.

Is there any original (mono) GameBoy game collectors out there?

Raises Hand! and GBC and GBA Of Course!

Here are some pics of my small collection. Is any of it rare?

Hmmm, Id say Parasol Stars is for sure, one you dont see much!
Same for Solar Striker, Spiderman 2, Mickeys Dangerous Chase, Kid Icarus and Sneaky Snakes (which ive never seen before)

doesnt DreamTR have over 1000 boxed gameboy games or soemthing? i rememeber him mentioning something
Also i susspect Joe's (Gunstar Hero_Uk) collection to be quite big too!

Anyways, seeing as were all posting pictures ill go for it too!
Im quite proud of my collection, and ive had it going since the GBC Launch date! (This was my first console ever (if you consider Handhelds, consoles) as all i had prior to this was a ZX Spectrum and an Amiga A600)

Just as one last note, there are two games im currently trying to track down, which i had when i was younger, but traded them in for other games...

"Power Quest" and "The Legend Of The River King"

If anyone has these for trade then please let me know!

Turns out i took 17 photos, so your best going into my room of doom page to see them!

I'm trying to get complete boxed sets of GB/GBC/GBA

I'm closing on on GB, I need only 7 titles, and 40 boxes.

Game Boy Color I need around 50-60 boxed titles...

GBA...oh boy, maybe a couple of hundred...but I have 500 boxed right now =D

Anyone want to help me with boxes for GB??????? =)

I used to collect them, and I had TONS (like a good 50+ games) all with manuals, etc... but someone stole them on a camping trip with the Boy Scouts years ago. I'm pretty sure I know who it was too...

The GameBoy was the first system that was MINE. I had to share the NES with the family.
I have recently rediscovered my love for the GB and will probably emass a few more carts in the next few months.

On a related note...I finally scored a copy of Great Greed! It has taken me forever to find this game.

None of the original colors sell for much of a premium. I've seen the black one sell between $5 and $8 on a regular basis. If you keep an eye on eBay you'll see a few each week, usually bundled with games. GB Pockets sell for a little more ($7-10 on average) and none of the colors vary except the TRU exclusive gold, which doesn't show up too often.
