Well I am too far away to bump other long time forum members from this. Good luck Adam.

Eventually I will have to buy one of these :/

Edit: And if you dont plan on buying this , dont be an idiot and put in a bid just to say you bid on it. Lets try and keep this price reachable for those who need it and can buy it.
(and yes I have seen people do this)

I'm not sure about ebay sales for the gold cart, but i know of a private collector to collector sale of a gold copy at a local vintage video game store,it was purchased buy the owner for a total of $7,200 bucks. But this is the same guy who charges you $10 for SMB/duckhunt so he has it to blow.first one i ever saw on e-bay it gives me chills,to bad i just spent $350 of credited pay pal money on a Stack-Up CIB complete with 2 robots. If only they would front me enough $ for this one.

You know, sometimes I bid early a really low amount just to show that I will snipe at the end...but that's stupid! Maybe the price now will stop and, since it's so high, it may work as a deterrent (it looks like it will go over 2000).

Yeah, its usually crazy to bid up with so much time to go, but my guess is people think if it gets so high it will scare them away. I paid around $1500 for mine, but these games normally go for anywhere between $1200 and $2000. But if you get 2 desperate bidders, thats all it takes for it to go to an entirely different level.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this tops $3000. Yes, probably by some newbie, yes, it'll probably be relisted, but this will comparatively open the floodgates for the availability of this thing.

BTW, I remember seeing the last gold NWC cart on eBay back in February '03. Went for a $2500 BIN one full day into its listing period (actual starting bid was $1777.77). Shipping on it was something like $25-$30, if I remember right, too (I imagine that included an absolute ton of insurance)...

Edit: I was only 17 when I saw it, and jobless, but if I'd have had the $$$$ on me, I'd probably be the man with it to this day...

Definately, but I think some one them are probably fake bidders that aren't going to pay. I can't believe it's up to 5000 already though if its real! What the hell would a gold copy go for nowadays, probably like $15,000+ maybe.

$5,000 bid with 8 days left and the high bidder is someone with 0 feedback? No chance in hell the seller is getting paid.

I also bet that the laura person is gonna be the last person to bid on this.

SoulBlazer
09-13-2005, 03:01 AM
I don't understand why the buyer did'nt say that no one with a feedback of under a certain number -- I'd say 5 -- would be allowed to bid without e-mail contact first.

Plus, if he sees shill bidding, ban the people from bidding.

After all, the seller wants to get PAID. He/she MUST know that jack asses are doing this to the item on purpose and has no intention of paying for it.

Jed
09-13-2005, 04:22 AM
Heh. I'm pretty convinced that the 0 feedback person is faking it, but the people who keep bidding higher... that have feedback... what are THEY thinking? I mean, you go in to the bid history, and you see people with decent feedback bidding up over $4K. Oh well. I guarantee we see a few more of these before the year's end, with people thinking they can sell theirs for a lot. And God help us if someone puts up a gold cart.

I have been in contact with the seller since the auction began (gotta love ebay "favorites" searches that email you when keywords appear in an auction title). He seems to be very nice and genuine, and I have pointed out to him the sketchyness of the top bidders. Poor guy...he mentioned he doesn't know a good bidder from a bad, so I sincerely hope this guy doesn't get screwed because of some asshats.

I have been looking for a lis of NWC tour dates. Does anyone have one? There were 30 in all. The reason I ask right now is because, I heard rumors there were some Canadian dates, but I'm pretty sure it's bull. Oh, and he found the cart in Vancouver, which is only 2.5 hours from Redomond. This could be a non-finalist cart, like Ben Smith's (cart could be from a NOA employee)...unless a finalist in the Redmond/Seattle area sold his/her cart around there.

More and more NWC carts are popping up beyond the originally known 116. Time for me to start a new thread concerning this, BTW. I've got some new info beyond the discovered 117th cart I posted about in my Ben Smith interview.

Oh, and for anyone saying it may be fake, it is extraordinarily difficult to fake an NWC cart...more difficult than any Nintendo cart, period, imo.

-Rob

I really hope that $5,000 bid is a fake. I mean you seriously need to reexamine your life if you're paying $5,000 for a game cartridge. If you have that much money to blow, give it to charity.

well, if the correct price is 5000, then you may think about buying it and maybe selling it in the future with higher value. I mean, if the price is ok or lower than the market value, then you may think about it as an investment.
Not this time anyway.

NESwomen typically puts in an early bid and then a big final bid. $1700 was not the highest offer that NESwomen was willing to go although $5100 is probably beyond that.
