All pics can be seen here for now:
http://www.electricquarter.com/sub/gameroom.htm

Here are the thumbnail pics, check the link above for the huge full size pics (I HIGHLY suggest checking out the full size pics). I'm not good at taking pics because I like inserting angles as opposed to straight dead-on pictures. Lets people see more surfaces, but the downside is you completely miss seeing one whole surface :P

I'll FINALLY be doing a full room of doom on the DP site once I finish re-arranging everything.

A few atari games I picked up here and there. You can't see it well in the pic, but the glass is etched to show an atari system, controllers, and some misc game that is supposed to look like asteroids or a generic shooter game with score and all. Picked this up a few years ago, never fixed it up and cleaned it.

How did you physically assemble those shelves? I like them, although the problem I run into is I tend to rearrange things a bit too much to have dedicated cube sizes. Still, they look great, maybe I could incorporate the technique into something that would work for me!

The console shelves I simply screwed them together with drywall screws. You can see the measurements at the bottom of the link above.
The new display case I did completely with wood dowels and glue, nothing else is holding it together, and nothing is showing anywhere. The glass will be resting inset along the top of the dividers and have to be lifted with suctions cups (to get a hand under the backside, then just lifted) Obviously, I don't plan on getting in there too ogten at any rate.

The system is in the top right corner of the console shelves.
NONE of my games are shown in these pics, have to go to the website for that :P This is a VERY smalle part of my game room shown here.

More questions:

Did you paint them before or after assembly?

Can you play them all without removing them? (In other words, is there enough room to open systems or put carts in them.)

Where your SNES is, on the right hand side, two of your vertical boards line up. How did you fasten screw both up and down in the same place (if that doesn't make sense, let me know).

EDIT: Adding more questions:

How did you run your electrical/video wiring?

How deep are the shelves? The last ones I made were 10 inches deep, which turns out is plenty for most consoles but not for vintage computers.

And I thought I was the only one who had one of these!

And yes they are practically impossible to get a decent picture of the etched glass.

EVG - That's a GREAT picture of the etching actually :) I'm gonna steal it from you if you don't mind

Slipdeath - Manuals. hundreds of manuals, all in baseball card type clear plastic "sleeves". That and all the overlays.

More questions:

After - although painting them before, then touching up after would have gone MUCH better. I built the original 2 shelves years ago and didn't have time to paint until now though.

Can you play them all without removing them? (In other words, is there enough room to open systems or put carts in them.)

Originally, I think there was on most systems, but my tv is WAY on the other side of the room now. I found it easier to leave the cables behind the system, and just pull out the system/video cables if needed and carry them. The plugs are all on a shelf under the ET center.

Where your SNES is, on the right hand side, two of your vertical boards line up. How did you fasten screw both up and down in the same place (if that doesn't make sense, let me know).

Ya know, I was actually wondering this VERY same thing when I went to paint it a few days ago. I don't remember, I can only assume I never screwed one side of one of the shelves in, maybe I glued it?

How deep are the shelves? The last ones I made were 10 inches deep, which turns out is plenty for most consoles but not for vintage computers.

As above, I just leave the video cables loose begind the systems (hidden) and then pull them out to play them. The plugs are all under the TV next to a power strip, all labeled.
I made them all out of 12" pine, so they're all arond 11.5" deep. The 5200, and channel F are the only things that don't REALLY fit, and the )2 system doesn't QUITE make it either.

The display case is 23" wide, I joined 2 12" pine boards together. It's around 6 feet long as well and 3 feet tall (I think all three units are 3' high by 6 feet long actually)

Nice display of all the systems! I love the black trim and the white really makes the consoles stand out! Looks great, can't wait to see the finished project.
I really like the Atari cabinet too, reminds me of my GBA cabinet, the glass front has a etched picture of a gameboy in it.
Looking forward to seeing more pics from you in the R.o.D.

Nice! 8-) Where did you pick up that etched atari glass? That really is the best part in my opinion.

Just picked up the cabinet somewhere along the lines, flea market, or ebay lot. EVG has the same one. Funny, I always thought that cheesy ceramic handle was something someone stuck on there somwhere down the line, apparently that's what originally came on it. Either that or we both got them from someone with REALLY BAD TASTE in cabinet handles.

That's really nice man. What's the marbled VCS in the 3rd pic? Some kind of Brazilian clone?

to get a good shot of that atari glass door, open the door and stand so that the door is in front of a white wall. Turn off the flash on the camera and shoot away.

One in from the bottom, and one in from the right? Just a sears telegames unit.
