Today was another all-GBA day for me.

First, I went to Best Buy. As I said in the Best Buy thread, there wasn't much at mine, but I did find something I wanted:

Grand Theft Auto Advance (new) - $9.99

Then I went to a pawn shop and then an EB, both a few blocks away from Best Buy. At the pawn, I found:

Namco Museum (loose) - $4.98

Then at EB, I found:
Donkey Kong Country (loose) - $11.69 (mispriced with a tag that was supposed to be on the Classic NES Donkey Kong)

Had the day off so I made a early trip to the Best Buy, see post here for bogus on sale list. Got JACK at B Buy , so I went to a near buy thrift and found the following games all $2 each. Guess the trip was not a total waste.

NES - Nothing special but got them because they were boxed and in nice condition

Super Spike V' Ball
NFL Football
Baseball Simulator 1.000
RBI Baseball 2

Saturn - Too many sports games but I did not have them so what the Hey.

Need for Speed
Tomb Raider
Duke Nukem 3d
Iron Storm
NFL QB Club 97
NASCAR 98 box and book but had Daytona disk :(
FIFA 97
Madden 98
Pebble Beach Golf Links
NBA Action 98

Something along the lines of Parsona 2 and Rhapsody were found in a warehouse or something and sold. So, there's a shitload of brand new looking, or brand new copies of those two games around.

Excerpted from my blog entry (check the link to see pics!) (http://www.tylerwillis.com/2005/09/12/700-unique-games-nes-goodness/)

In any case, I did want to share a particularly good NES find. As you can see from the auction, there’s no pics and the seller had 0 feedback when I won. So I took a chance. My bet was that the info was too detailed to be a scam; it would be an awful lot of trouble to type it up. Of course, it could have been ripped from somewhere, but I decided to go for it.

Smart move.

I paid just under $200 for the whole shebang, and I was utterly amazed at what I got. I’ve posted pics, but the pics don’t do the winnings justice. This was an absolutely amazing lot of well kept NES goodness. Really - I’m surprised this wasn’t a collector of some sort (could be, but most collectors would have realized that this would have been worth more).

Look at all those Nintendo Powers. Ranging from the 20s to the 70s. I plugged a few holes in my collection and then eBayed the rest. In addition, there were a number of old NES strategy guides that I didn’t have and a whole load of random old gaming mags that I certainly didn’t have (nor had heard of). Needless to say, those went into my collection.

Boxed peripherals! Wow. Boxed. And a Donkey Kong Country promo VHS! Holy crap. Of course, we can’t forget the nonpictured NES in a BOX. It’s the sports action set complete with four-player adapter. Mmmm… I really want to keep the box…

And then there’s the Nintendo Power binder. A binder! How cool would that have been to lug to school? And in the binder was goodness. Cutouts from the Super Mario CEREAL. Yes, the cereal - these cutouts are for gameplay tips, so I guess he wanted to keep those. Also included was a buttload of random NES… well, stuff. Posters. Advertisements. Catalogs. Letters from game companies!

The guy was apparently on some really sweet mailing lists as the Final Fantasy poster (how I have wanted one of these forever!) shows. Also note the Illusion of Gaia mailer. Squaresoft apparently produced some promotional comics for Breath of Fire and Final Fantasy III. These things rock. Don’t forget the random stuff either - a Nintendo sticker book and two Zelda comic books!

And finally, the games. Gauntlet II. Shadowgate. Zelda I and II. Final Fantasy. Ultima: Exodus. Swords and Serpents. Dragon Warrior I, II, III, and holy freaking IV. There were a few more - but those that I just listed are complete. COMPLETE: boxes/Styrofoam/inserts/manuals/maps/sleeves and in some cases, random extras that game companies sent him. I nearly wept. Oh yeah, and the rarer than crap Dragon Warrior IV strategy guide.

I have an excellent addition to my collection in these. I’m keeping every complete game that I didn’t already have - despite the fact that Final Fantasy and the Dragon Warriors alone are worth what I paid for the whole thing. This is one of those rare instances where I’m keeping more than I’m selling - stuff like this just doesn’t come that often.

Yup, but I didn't had the chance to order mine, so this is great for me I was not going to let it pass, again. I think is absurd to get such games and let em go in a trade in, but not everyone collect games like us.

NES Goodness... Enjoy Gyromite.

My NES ROB arrived Today.

I bought my R.O.B off ebay, so it doesn't quite belong here, but it came with ALL of the Gyromite accessories, And it works great - Cost $7.72 + Shipping & Insurance. :)

So, it DOES Qualify in a certain way - Not as expensive as usual.

Gyromite was actually bought my mistake. There's 53 games in that lot and it turns out that I only needed 51 of them. I think its because I rushed through my 'want-list' and missed that I allready had it.
I hate it when I buy games I allready have.

Yeah, I had no idea that they even made such things, although I realize now that my language was a bit off - they are actually Squaresoft newsletters, not comics. Just the front looks comicy (which I why I typed it as such). Still cool, though.

The Zelda comic is number 2. The Zelda book is Moblin's Magic Spear.

That's a fine price for an eBay ROB.

Did you find it under some funky listing? Or didja just luck out and not have to deal with any other bidders?

Whatever the case, great catch!

Man, I NEVER have any luck at garage sales. But fortunately, I have friends who DO have good luck and who look out for me.

Last weekend one of my wife's co-workers called her up and said "We're at a garage sale. They have an Odyssey for $5, do you want us to get it for you?"

Naturally I assumed she meant an Odyssey 2.
I assumed wrong.

Yesterday, I swung by the school my wife works at and sure enough, there was that classic black box with the white Odyssey title tumbling down it. It appears to have everything inside except for card #2 (it might be buried in the overlays, I only had a couple of minutes to explore it) and the battery case has some nasty corroded batteries in it, otherwise it's clean and purdy.

Heck, I even told her what it was worth and she STILL wanted to give it to me for $5.

So there you have it--an Odyssey ONE for $5.
Add that to the mint Channel F my buddy found for a $1, and my friends are having a MUCH better year of hunting than I am.

Cheers to good friends!

Gemstik is my favorite 3rd party 2600 controller. That clicky feel to it is really something else. It's probably the only controller I would pick over a CX-40. Traded mine away some time back and am always on the lookout for another one.

My find:

Wario Land (Virtual Boy), loose - $20 :rocker: VB titles are absolutely impossible to find in the wilds of Albuquerque so I just couldn't walk past this despite the slightly steep price. Been playing it for about 1/2 hour and I can easily say this the must-have for VB collectors. Very cool game.
