Ohh, I forgot about the MTV games...
and was the Spice Girls music-based (meaning music was an integral part of the game?)
and you made me think of one I don't have...Britney's Dance Beat...ugh, but you have to take to good with the bad!
And now that I think about it, the Sega CD Make My Videos should be included also...

Does Jukebox on the ColecoVision count? Or is it too generalized?

If this topic interests you be sure to read Greg Wilcox' "Did YOU Know?" column, which discusses ten very good music-themed games from the PlayStation era to present.

::reeling in topic::
I'm looking for stuff that has music as an integral part of the gamePLAY, not just the experience, so Journey Escape or the SNES shooter don't count...music has to be a part of the gameplay...
What Dolphin game are you referring to Tom, Ecco the Dolphin?

And are you intentionally leaving out Bemani games like Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, and Drum Mania? They're as much music-themed as DDR.

hello,
no I don't mean Ecco, thats not on PS anyway.
There was a game on PlayStation, you control a Dolphin, underwater, making music, like ambient stuff. Come on someone must know this game, it's by Sony

I saw a preview of Amplitude on G4 last night, it looked freaking awesome. Basically more of the same, but with wilder graphics.
'Fluid', that is the music creation game on PS I couldn't think of, and you play as a Dolphin. Very good game too, well worth getting.

Activision's Dolphin for the 2600 pretty much required that you listen to the various tones in order to navigate your dolphin successfully. The higher-pitched the tone was, the higher you needed to swim in order to pass through the hole in the coral wall (was it coral? It's been a while...). I'd think that qualifies as integral to the gameplay.
And it was a pretty good game with good graphics and sound for the time, to boot.
