Yeah. It's happened to me. Don't fret though. I tend to go through phases.
See, if you know me, you know I loves the shmups. Well, lately if I've been playing games, it's been Def Jam Fight for NY, Burnout 3, Halo or Counter Strike. We all need a break (and my wallet thanks me for picking up some domestic clearance bin titles vs. pricey imports) but I know I'll get back to the shmups eventually. It happens to me about every time a new Gran Turismo comes out to be honest, and I just don't sweat it.

I'm going through one now, although I don't know if you would call it a casual phase or a crap phase. I can't seem to stay interested in Phantasy Star 4 or Metroid Prime, but I keep find myself playing Vampire Hunter D, Mighty Beanz Pocket Puzzles and VIP. God I hope this wears off soon.

They're video games, aren't they? If you enjoy them, what's the problem? :/

it has happened to me before. even worse, i usually get the mindset while trying to finish a game. try to finish every game you're signicantly into, unless you feel like trying so would spoil the immersion (like, rushing a silent hill game. total buzzkill). i found that going overboard on other activities can get you back into the gaming mood.
ie. watch nothing but movies back to back for a few days. you'll go stircrazy and have masturbational fantasies about using a controller again.
