Maybe you're thinking of NES reproductions. They make custom carts, like the US FF2 and Earthbound Zero.

Does anybody here remember the Final Fantasy VII Famicom pirate?

I own a pirate Final Fantasy GameBoy or GameBoy Color cartridge. Not sure which game this is real. But the pirate game is hacked and contain some Final Fantasy graphics. Nice one I think.

Cartridge and Box has a pictures from Final Fantasy VIII on it and on the back from the Box are pictures from Final Fantasy IX. But the best, the titlescreen is from Final Fantasy II (NES).
I would like to know what game this is. It plays like a Beat em Up where you walk from the left to the right and must kill enemies.

That's really interesting... But this was more like Final Fantasy 1/2/3 or something hacked to say Final Fantasy VII on the titlescreen with Cloud as a character. It had Japanese text.

Now I remember a hacked GameBoy game which called Final Fantasy VII or has Cloud in the titlescreen. But this was only Final Fantasy Legend III for GameBoy, not NES.

Cool. I specifically remember it being in color... I also remember it to be Famicom or something. An old old old NES dumper guy from the past... Either mm-mm or Keropi posted the screenshot from another Japanese guy's page.

I think I vaguely remember the game you're talking about, merp. I want to say the guy was going to release it, but he was hacked or something and the rom was stolen from him by KongMan (remember him?) That turned him off from ever releasing FF7, or anything else.

At least, that's the story I remember. I'm thinking the guy's name was YuYu.

I believe he's talking about the final fantasy 2 pirate cart for the famicom. It was I believe a multi cart that had final fantasy 2 in it. Most of them were made in china. The games are pretty illegal. Most are pulled from ebay before you get to see them. I tried to find you a pic. I was just looking at this the other day. Here is a link. Try the multi cart pics.

I had a section of my old rom web page devoted to it. It was supposedly a homebrew being made by a Japanese fellow named Yuyu. He also was responsible for dumping a lot of Japanese Super Famicom BS roms.

However, supposed drama broke out and he killed the web page about the game (not that there was much info there to begin with). It was never released, nobody ever saw it, so it was probably a hoax. Wow... I suddenly have a sense of deja vu.
