... you mail a total stranger a free game just because you had it lying around, and he never e-mails you to say "thanks?" You might finally get a "thanks" but only after you e-mailed HIM to find out if he got it and he says "Got it two days ago! Thanks!"

I know one should not give things expecting thanks in spades, but where has happened to the concept of simple, old-fashioned manners?

not to sure if this belongs in here, but yeah, about 5 times.

a sent a few things out without a thankyou at all, or anything...i hate asking if they even got the items.

and even to a point of going out of my way to do something or get something for someone with my own money expecting some payback or something and nothing.

I keep tabs in my mind.

This has happened to me several times as well. One time I even sent something free to someone, and paid the shipping myself, and they wrote me back six weeks later complaining that they never received the item, and threatened to leave me negative feedback! :eek 2:

I tried to explain the situation to the person, and they just got angry and told me to "forget about it". I was quite shocked. The person had paid absolutely nothing for the item.

Another time I sent two games for free to a guy that bought a PS2 from me. He wrote back complaining that one of the games was missing the instruction booklet. I told him "you didn't even pay for those games, I was being nice and tossing in a few freebies", and he replied with "why the hell would I want games that aren't complete?". I gave up with that person. Dumbass. You know who you are! *evil glare* :hmm:

It's also happened to me a few times here, and I have sent PM's asking if they had received it or not. Sometimes, I don't even get a reply to that question.

What happened to simple appreciation or acknowledgement for something someone sent you for free?

I still remember who you guys are...Bitches. ;)

Well, how about we shoot that no-gooder dead, sheriff? Would that cheer you up?

I feel that death by firearm is a bit extreme for this thankless slob, but a BB pellet in the ass is certainly an option. Would you please see to that, Deputy? Thanks

i remember that giveaway. i was 3rd on the list. oh well. yeah, it's a courtesy thing.

I also hate it when i purchase an item from a b/s/t forum and the seller doesn't bother to let you know when the item shipped. Then you get an excuse about their health issues, or deaths in the family. I swear all the sick people in the world hang out in b/s/t forums.

I tell you all right now that if any of you send me something for free you most certianly will get a thank you PM :)

I had something similar, I bought some shirts from someone (he was most generous BTW) for my two older kiddos once they got here I had them put them on and sent him a picture of them wearing it and told them how excited they were to get them. with a ton of thanks

never heard back though. I hope that he at least liked the attempt.

You are forgiven, young one. Extra points for coming forward publicly with your shame and humiliation.

Don't forget the people that just disappear with nary a word after you pay them. I haven't been burned yet, but it's unnerving.

Oooooh, I got one.

People who make a list. are ok with the price (hey if you dont like the price and say so its ok!) say they're going to pay by the end of the week. You set the stuff they want asside, and then silence for two weeks.

Thats annoying.

Indeed.

Or people who want stuff, say they will pay after they return from a trip/vacation/whatever, go on vacation, return and then never mention anything.

Obviously if its not worth remembering or leaving a note about then they didnt want it that bad.

...when someone is selling something with a set asking price, you state you want to buy it, then they jack up the asking price.

Thats why I rarely give freebies. I also hate it when I leave feedback for a seller and they never leave me feedback. This has happened on DP and I really dont appreciate it, especialy since I leave them feedback, and even PM them nicely asking to leave me some because I want a good reputation, and even see that they read my PM and never left me any.
Ya you know who you are...

... when people don't finish their sentances in a topic for a thread.
Yes

Just kidding.
But what did you send anyways? Sounds pretty nice of you ;)

I agree with the sentiments here...common courtesy has really fallen by the wayside with the widespread adoption of the internet. A thread like this makes me smile, because it means courtesy isn't dead yet. Hopefully the longer I stick around, the more I'll be able to build up a good buy/sell reputation.

Communication, honesty, courtesy and promptness are all huge in my book.
