PSP's are not Gameboys.

OSG's number one handheld request for repair right now is PSP screen repair. Do Not Drop Your PSP. I cannot emphasize that enough. Treat it like a $300 Faberge Egg, and you should have no problems.

FYI, I buy PSP's with shattered screens and other problems, and can credit their value against a new PSP shipped to you.

Hard to play with a shattered screen. My kids are not allowed to touch my PSP *ever*, and I can fix them. Kids are better off with a solid state Gameboy or DS IMO.

The picture above is at a really tricky corner. I say tricky because when you drop a PSP and attempt to play Wipeout like a huge stubborn ass-clown then you rapidly come to the conclusion that even straight sections of track are deadly.

Classic! Right up there with "I have a dream!" and "We the people..."

And true as well, which is why it's a clever quote!

Wow, a 3 ft. fall onto a carpet...

I still think Sony screwed up royally with this new handheld of theirs. I mean, you know younger kids want it, and younger kids will get it. Also, younger kids aren't overly cautious with expensive things since they don't know the ture value of a dollar. So many of these things are going to break from clumsy falls.

I remember my first Gameboy. I was eight, and by the time I was eleven, I could hardly see the games through the screen, not to mention the numerous chips and dings on the casing.

I look forward to the Virtua Tennis on a dropped PSP review. I really enjoyed VT on the Dreamcast with nonfunctioning controller ports. :P

Sony probably wants them to break. Sony has proven one unfortunate fact more than once. People have a surprisingly high tolerance for rebuying the same crappy hardware 1,2,3 or even more times even if it's expensive and will probably break again. I'll bet one of the execs was sitting at a board meeting and said "let's make it ridiculously fragile, so THEY break it before it breaks on its own, and the warranty wont count!" He then got a raise.

Yep, the terms "dropped" and "PSP" should never be used in the same sentence. I don't know what the hell I'd do if I ever lost my grip on mine. It would be a sick stomach feeling for sure. I guess that's why you get the funky white wrist strap. To prevent stuff like this from happening.

OH, i know the feeling of a dropped psp. The first day i bought it launch day i was ever so careful reading the manual checking out the stand i had to buy in a toys r us bundle damn them! I held the stand above my head to look at the psp inside it when to my horror the stand hinge fell under the wieght of the psp and smacked my wall then went behind my nightstand smacked the nightstand then smacked a wall again and landed on the carpet. I wish i had a picture of my face when that was happening. I just knew the screen would be busted but it wasnt i now have a smudge on the top of the psp but the screen was fine and i didnt want to risk turning it in because i had heard to many stories of dead pixels and mine had just one.
But wait theres more! Taking my psp out of my locker at work to play my friend on break and it slid out my hand landed on the tile. Upon landing the memory stick and umd shot out of the damn thing. Reminded me of when r2d2 gets shocked and all his little parts are hanging out i am not talking about his genitals either. Psp was undamaged from that fall however. X_x

On the upside...all you collectors think of the rarity you'll have in 5 years if you never touch it...the only functioning PSPs on the planet! Literally, normal use will destroy the silly things, so they're gonna be a hot collectible later on!

Now, that is genuinely odd. Really, how does something like that happen?
