Although Electronics Boutique used to be one of my favorite stores to hit shit I can't even tell the difference from one or the other now . Walk into any mall, walk into the Videogame store... and which is it? Who knows, they're all the same generic store now. x_x

I'll have to vote for Gamestop because I can only find one lousy EB within 50 miles while I can hit 3 Funcolands in the same distance.

Here's a bet: EB and Gamestop suffer some type of price-fixing lawsuit. They've basically monopolized the videogame market; there's some sort of tacit collusion - they do tend to match specials nearly word for word, for instance.

As for Boston, I prefer EBX, simply because the prices on PSX are somewhat better and more importantly, the staff are cool guys. The Gamestop downtown (and the EB in Cambridge) have Joe Q. Nongamer working the shelves.

I wish there was an actual videogame store in Boston. The market is huge, and there are only 4 videogame stores in the city (2 eb's and 2gs's) - no indies at all. Something high-scale - that is, older games and systems, big-screen pay and play, dedicated staff, etc.. If Boston can turn Pool Halls into Clubs (witness Felt and Jillian's, among others), then why not videogaming? If Eugene, Oregon can support 7 different videogame stores (only 1 videogame store went out of business in the 4 years I lived there), then why not Boston and its 200000 college kids?

Most importantly, I want a store *that cares about the quality of a game*. I want my game to have instructions, and its case, and not be disc doctored. The quality of half the games at EB are terrible, and Gamestop is even worse.

I vote GameStop because the EB near me doesn't carry any older games.

Both the EB and Gamestop near me suck, so I won't vote. Our Babbages is awesome though.

Easy one for me. EB's prices (at least in my area) are consistently better. The stores themselves typically suck in layout, it's not easy finding things; but I'd rather spend a few minutes searching than get raped by Gamestop.

Note: one of my best friends is a store manager in Gamestop and I'm quite sure he'll kill me if he reads this :)

To me, this is kind of like being forced to choose between eating cold shit or warm shit. Maybe in your neck of the woods, there's a big difference between the two, but out here they both are pretty rotten.

Having said that, I'd give the edge to Funco/Gamestop, ONLY because they have Genny games, and even then they're in the process of getting rid of those.

Well, I say EB. but that's because we don't have Gamestops here in Quebec. However, EB doesn't carry old games. For this, we have Microplay, although prices and choice vary greatly from one franchise to the next.

Both the EB and Gamestop near me suck, so I won't vote. Our Babbages is awesome though.

FYI: Babbages, Gamestop, Software Etc, and Funcoland, are all owned by the same company: Barnes & Nobel

In my area, I have to give the edge to EB (sorry JD!!!) although I may have just gone to the wrong Gamestop(s) you'd figure that out of 6 or 7 in Columbus though that at least 1 or 2 would be nice. Ever since "the change" has been made, the quality of the staff, and the prices, has just gone downhill...

EB stores are getting very nice around here...especially the newer EB Games chain, they are usually in strip malls and they tend to be cleaner, MUCH larger, and selection (esp. on old Nintendo titles) is decent.

Very impressive...although the EBs at the malls tend to still be too cramped.

I dislike going into both Gamestop and EB, but if I had to choose, I'd pick Gamestop only because I go there to renew my Game Informer subscription. Since they stopped carrying NES games I haven't purchased a single game from them. I do alot of business at Game Crazy now. There are 8 within driving distance of me so that's nice. Other than that I just stick to the thrifts and pawn stores to get my old school game on.

We have places called game crazy where i live i lkie the m better than the other two stores because they still sell old games and gamestop and eb dont anymore where i live.

Great point, and the reason why I pick GameCrazy also. They had a huge sale a few weeks ago, they were selling NES games for 2 bucks. Manged to pick up a couple of goodies. :)

No Gamestop in Canada but i'll vote for EB anyway just because i'm grateful that they carried Saturn imports back in the day.

Can we maybe have the third option: immolation, on most days this would be preferable to either option, but if I had to choose....EB I suppose, Gamestop ditched the old games (NES, SNES, Genesis, etc.) first. And, EB's tend to be more conveinently located to me.

I'd pick Gamecrazy over EB/Gamestop if possible, but I'll go with EB - lately, they've seemed to have more sales than Gamestop has. I honestly haven't bought much from Gamestop since they stopped selling older games.

I'll say EB, but then again I suppose its a special circumstance. We go into the EB up here so often and spend so much money that the entire staff knows us pretty well, and don't hesitate to bend over backwards to help us out. I also like the prices, people, and deals they have going on there.

Gamestop on the other hand, well.... I'm not happy that they discontinued their older games, and their prices are almost always on the high side.

EB Games. I mostly buy Game Boy games, because consoles are expensive and I don't have a TV I could spare for them (my mom and sister are ALWAYS watching TV). The Game Spots near me treat their Game Boy carts like crap. One has them tossed around on the bottom of a glass case, and the other has them in a tiny section by the counter.
