dunno if anyone saw this, but apparently the Stealth movie UMD is going to include several Wipeout Pure levels, including one exclusive level. also included is a new "stealth" vehicle to race.
think including demos of games on UMD movies is going to be a trend? and how is this going to affect collecting of games for the psp? interesting news indeed.

$39.95? For a movie with approx. 1/5th of a game? No thanks. This might be an incentive to buy the movie if it was priced accordingly with other UMDs. I hope they offer the "Stealth" track and vehicle as a download however ...

You'd think they'd at least do this with a GOOD movie...

Nah. A good movie could stand on its own. I hope they are at least getting a lot of money to volentarily stain the Wipeout brand like this.

Hahahaha My Thoughts exactly....
I saw the trailer for this before watching Batman Begins and i just burst out laughing...
Im not buying the idea of a Plane who has a "mind of its own"
Anyways... Good Idea though... i can see tie ins such as Spiderman films with extras for Spiderman Games... Batman Begins for that reason too (If such games are released!)

It only pulled in $39 million. It was a $100 million loss. This is a desperate attempt to break even.

Lol, the psp movies make me laugh. First we have to stock 100's of these damn things at work that DONT sell and now they're basically begging you to buy shitty movies with little "bonuses". So sad.

I don't know what you're talking about or where you work, but UMD movies have been a notable, unpredicted success story in terms of sales. They aren't selling out, but demand is far higher in the US than anyone (save for perhaps Sony) predicted.

They've sold as much as the video games.

I could go on and on. Also every major movie producer is onboard. If they were such a failure why do you think there'd be 100 of them at your job?

You must be talking to A) Nintendo fanboys or B) the ignorant. Here's the respected ArsTechnica (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20050829-5252.html), Tom's Hardware (http://www.tomshardware.com/hardnews/20050831_104644.html), and Slate (http://slate.msn.com/id/2125170/fr/rss/). All from the last few weeks, though the success of UMDs was apparent even in May (USA Today) (http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/gear/2005-05-22-handheld-movies_x.htm).

I've spoken to the guy who had to do this (he recently joined the forums at WotR). He is NOT happy about having to "whore the IP" to prop up a turkey of a movie. He did a lot of the graphics in the Wipeout PSP game, and also had to design the Stealth ship in this new add-on pack (he also did work in all the add-on packs currently out as well).
Such is life and working directly for Sony...
