Hi all, I just picked up a bunch of video games and equipment for an awesome price. With the stuff also came a floppy drive that attaches to the sega genesis which allows you to play games that were saved on a floppy disc. Is this worth anything? Rarity guide is down and I can't find it anywhere on the net.

Thanks

Does it 'attach' through the controller port? If so, I doubt its for the genesis, as many systems have used that same plug on them. Unless it has a Sega logo or something like 'For use on the Sega Genesis system' then its for something else.

Sounds like a game backup copier, but it would be nice to have some pics.

Pics already dammit! Sounds like an interesting peice of hardware if it is indeed a game backup. Someone found one like that a while back for the snes where you could load roms onto the system.

yep a friend of mine has one and it's meant to load roms to the genesis through the floppy. it can also backup carts to a floppy.

you have a really neat toy. as far as rare I couldn't tell you. theres also a few games it's not compatiable with. I'm just not sure which ones.

if you need more info I'll call him up tomarrow and ask him about it. see what else he knows.

Probably a pirate device used to copy games. Definately not common, a nice conversation piece.

game copier, im still surprised by the number of people here who are surprised and unfamiliar with these. they are common if you know where to look. value is 30-100 dollars depending on device.

My Genesis (and N64, and SNES) copiers are on there. Genesis ones seem to be the hardest to find of those three.

Yes its a game copier you plug the game into the copier and transfer it to floppy disk.

Most copiers come with a RAM size - the more RAM, the bigger games you can copy, so if you have a normal RAM size say 16MB you cant copy the more complex games (you can span them over multiple disks)

I have a copier myself allthough I've never used it, its an MGH,(Multi Game Hunter) and is dual format! (SNES and Megadrive/Genesis)

It cost the princely sum of £0.20p (about 35 cents) from a flea market! LOL

It was using this equipment that allowed people to make ROMS for use with emulators.

When I turn it on it also says SFC and has a pic of a Sfamicom cart as if I can backthem up too.

So far I have played Gunstar Heroes and Strider and they work excellent.
