Been meaning to get to this one for a LONG time, and it's finally up:

There's always great interest in these. As usual, if you have any extra information to add on versions not included, please do so. There are a few versions not covered.

You can view previous ones here:

I didn't know the jaguar had a raiden for it. neat. I'll have to look up the PSX one. Did it have a U.S. release?

Well done Matt, those are very thorough. I've played the Genesis and Jag versions, but there's no getting past the superior PSX version.

@Damion- I don't know if you meant did the Jag or PSX version got a US release, but the answer is yes both times. The PSX disc is called "The Raiden Project" and also includes Raiden II.

Yep, the US PS One version had not only Raiden, but the even better Raiden II. You'll need to search for the Raiden Project. It was an early release and a longbox.

I don't actually pick a favorite. These are just comparisons. I point out the differences, and people can make their own judgement based on that. They're more for the person who says "I want a version of game X, which one should I get?"

But, since you asked, the Genesis version is my pick of the lot.

The RAIDEN PROJECT is the oldest PSone game I own.

I have it in mint condition original long (sega CD type) box and even the soft cushiony thingy that goes in the middle.

It still stands up to this day and I still play it a few times a year.

It has aged well compared to the 3-D version of shooters of the same generation. ;)

Awesome set-up man...I need to check out some of your columns. That Raiden side bar is SOOOOOO bad, but in its defense, I think they were trying to mimic the game's opening sequence where the metal plates peel away....they just failed horribly. LOL

Being a Raiden junkie (I actually played Raiden Project so much I broke the fire button on a controller), I figured I'd share this with others. If you have PSX Raiden Project, track down the GameShark code that gives you "Full Power Ups" or whatever closest fits that description.

The code levels each weapon to their max potential, but then does something weird...it lets you fire ALL the weapons ALL at the same time. Much to say, you can finally take on the Hard difficulty with that kind of firepower.

Plus it looks (ferris bueller) "Sooo choice." (/ferris bueller)
