Damn, I hope we have different tastes in games ... It kills me the Battlefront II demo isn't online. With the success of the Battlefield II demo you'd think they'd have this one online-enabled.

Interesting. Mine has all of that with the exception of a massive playable of Far Cry Instincts instead of Battlefront 2. Everything else is the same.

Are you sure you're not talking about Issue 49? If not, someone majorly f'ed up on some of the discs ... Battlefront II is featured on both the disc cover and inside the magazine.

I was looking forward to Land of the Dead also but it just feels like a cheap PC FPS it offers little new or fun. It really is too bad.

Then again maybe I'm stupid LOL

I FINALLY got this issue in the mail.

For me it was a very "meh" demo disc.

Star Wars: Battlefront II- The inclusion of the Jedi (thankfully only available in the game for a short amount of time) seems last-minute, tacked on bullet point. Even though it's a team based game the objectives felt very one-man-army-ish with no way to call for cover (which I tried but no menu came up and no soldier around me would respond to my D-Up press). The fighters are thankfully improved in control as in BF1 the ships felt like they were kites stuttering about in the wind.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted-Graphics look good but the control felt sloppy. I think I'm possibly spoiled on Burnout 3/Revenge and PGR 2.

L.A. Rush- This game so reminded me of Crazy Taxi sans the passengers. Very average.

Land of the Dead- Joker T is right. This game is a dud. When the first selling-bullet point is "First video game based on the work of [insert famous author/artist/whatever here]", warning bells should go off in your head that the game may suck.

Marvel Nemesis- First reaction: "Hey, this is a lot like Power Stone 2". Same arena fighting-game concept as the Dreamcast legend but with Marvel characters. Didn't really get my Spider Sense tingling.

I skipped NCAA Football 2006 (buddy of mine has it), The Suffering: Ties that Bind (was on another demo) and Xbox Live Arcade (don't have my Xbox online right now).

Thanks for the heads up Joker!

How long does it take for the first issue to come? I subscribed about a month ago.

Should take a little while but they normally send the ones that you miss.

Strangely, that seems to have been a problem in the original game's demo's too, but it works well in the game.

BTW: What is the issue number for this demo?

Issue #50.

I *might* give the game a rent to play SP. I was burned on...the.....ex..treme....lag on SW: BF's online play (and I have a fast DSL connection) so I'll probably skip multiplayer.

Ah. Thank you. I'll have to pick that issue up.
Re: Multiplayer: I don't have Live, so I've always played it split-screen for multiplayer. Oddly enough, there are times when the game slows down or stalls like that, too. (And that's not the only weird thing: Sometimes enemies appear inside solid objects, ship explode for no apparent reason, one shot from a soldier will kill instantly...)
Hopefully, BFII will live up to the hype better than the first one (although, it is a pretty good game.)

I don't know particularly what your up/down bandwidth is on your connection, but a "fast DSL" might just be your problem. I had been playing it on an upgraded power-user cable connection and had great results. You had to be choosy with what servers you join; too many jokers would try to host 24+ player games while their roommates played Everquest or something. I could host a mean game of 24+ with little lag. SW Battlefront is easily one of my favorite online games ever, and I'll be picking up the sequel the day it hits retail. Personally I think the demo rocks.

3 Mbps down/512 Kbps up. I usually play at night (between 8:30PM to 11:00 PM Central) and I would try to find the best connection but I never seemed to have any luck.
