View Full Version : Think I may have pretty well screwed up an xbox (softmod)

OK, so I've got a softmodded xbox here (was UDE, later changed to mechassult exploit-loaded UXE). It's ran evox, and was fairly recently changed over to unleashX. Yesterday i decided I wanted to update my unleashX. things went terribly wrong.

Xbox now boots to the "call support" multilingual screen. It CAN boot up legal games, and I've been loading up mechassult and using the file manager inside the exploit installer to try and get a dashboard working. i've got unleashX on the drive for sure, i got evox running once but can't seem to get it to run default, and it's got the pheonix bios chooser or whatever but that's probably not too helpful ehre.

my question is, what can i do to get a dashboard working again? should i try to get evox going and FTP in a new unleashX? how can i change what dashboard it's defaulting to? is there some way i could make the xbox return to default legal everything, and then start over?

I fix softmods with a modchip. Works every time. Other than that, hopefully someone here will be able to help out.

Softmods are unreliable IMO for reasons just like yours. If something goes wrong, you are working without a net.

Good Luck bump!

Check xbox-scene.com for help topics. Also, I suggest Avalaunch as a dashboard. It is extremely reliable and I can't think of one thing to complain about.

fuck, i got that screen ONCE..right after, i managed to get ONE boot out of it and somewhere in that dashboard(evox) was an uninstall..whew. xbox is back to stock. some day i'll get around to chipping it...
Edit, I see you got it working. i'm at work so i have not much time to check around, but when i get home i'll find the link i used to install shit.....you might have some luck. you might not. :\

I've got it not working still. I was told to get a c: backup off a slyers disc and FTP that over, but I'm not 100% positive I grabbed the correct files. I think I did however...I'll mess with it again after I get my actual computer to stop locking up.

Generally, the rule with softmods is, once you install one, don't fuck with the dashboard. Seriously, don't. I use an Evox/XBMC combo, EvoX is my default and XBMC can be started as an application.

Now, with this said, I do believe there is a way to restore the original Xbox dashboard - did you remember to make a backup when you installed the softmod? If you can restore the original, factory Xbox dashboard you'll be going great.
