Hmmmm,

Double Dragon 1 is all I can think of right now. I liked Final Fight as well.

Final Fight CD on Sega CD, no doubts about it.

Are you looking for accuracy or play?

DDII on the NES was NOTHING like the arcade game, but one of the NES's best.

Final Fight on the Sega CD loses color, has all the levels, all the sprites, and one hell of a great soundtrack.

Turtles in Time on the Super loses a few bosses, but is otherwise dead on.

Combatribes is just about perfect, missing 3-player support only.

Die Hard Arcade

The end.

Wouldnt one of the Mega Drive double dragons have been the closest ports ? Certainly better than the NES ones (even the MS one was better).

I'll go with Final Fight. Too bad the SNES version was censored and missing a level.

TMNT 2, even though the graphics obviously weren't like the arcade

DD2

Final fight (SNES) What, you gonna hit me?

Turtles in time

Captain america and the avengers (SNES)

Best beat'em up?

1st place goes to Beats of Rage or any variation thereof.

2nd place is going to go to the Final Fight port on the upcoming Capcom compilation...at least I hope so.

well, the ps2 port of final fight doesn't really count..since i'm damn sure its going to be arcade perfect. almost every other game mentioned was released on less powerful hardware than the cabinet, which makes the good ones all the impressive.

Am I the only one that thought that Final Fight One was better than Final Fight CD? I liked the extra content and replay value.

As everyone else has mentioned...Final Fight CD for Sega CD was a fantastic port period (genre specific or otherwise). I loved the little audio additions Capcom threw in that the arcade version did not have (namely in the intro). As Slimedog has mentioned, Final Fight One was a pretty good port also... Final Fight CD just has a warmer spot in my heart.

Was there ever a proper home port of Capcom's Aliens vs. Predator? :(

I always wanted Sonic Fighters to get an arcade conversion, so glad its part of Sonic Gems now.

I really liked the NES port of Kung Fu :(

Die Hard Arcade, Dynamite Deka 2, and Zombie Revenge also got hella nice home ports.

Golden Axe on Genesis was a nice port.

even ninja gaiden on the mega drive was a bit dodgy but okay I guess I'm one of the few that thinks that NG arcade > > > > any NG nes I can't stand games like that not my style at all very overrated if you ask me... O_O

i don't understand why the double dragon 2 sega port was only released for the non-us region model (megadrive). i have 1 and 3, and the gap pisses me off. i guess i'll have to dig out the 30 genesis consoles i have under my bed and see if any of them can play imports.

on the same note, double dragon 2 was only released for the non-us region of the sega cd. i spent all that time locating a sega cd and i can't even play one of the beat 'em ups on it now.

I think you might be thinking of the PC Engine CD version.

Even though it isn't very good, Double Dragon 3 is a near perfect port of the crappy obscure arcade game that sent the series into a downward spiral.

I'll pretty much agree with GameReviewGod's opinion and say that I loved Double Dragon II, despite it being a huge departure from the arcade. Considering that the arcade DD2 didn't feel much different from the original and the NES version practically revamped the entire game, (not to mention the fact that I played the NES game a LOT in my childhood), it could be my favorite beat-em-up of all time.

But as far as arcade-perfect (or as close to perfect as possible) ports go, I'm going with Final Fight CD. Despite losing color, the graphics still look damn good, and the CD soundtrack is excellent in most parts (although I still think that the end of Bay Area and final Uptown area theme is a bit too slow compared to the original), and it's got something the SNES version didn't have: My boy GUY! :D

On the NES? Totally different game. On the Genesis? Yeah. Not sure which one you're reffering to.

Doesn't matter how perfect the conversion DD3 NES is still the better game, not quite DD2 NES but still quite good imho :/
