Ok i just got a Sega Genesis 1989 Model 1 with the EXT port on the back, anyway i just looked at the expansion connector and its pure black,so i cleaned it with alcohal, black came off but black is still there. So heres my question is the connector supposed to be Black or Gold?

Before I Post, I would like to say that i got like about a dozen Genny 1 systems in my room with the port you ask about and i looked at many of the, holding one now, so i think i know the answer to your question, i myself had never even looked to see the color of this port before, but oh well.
While the metal plating around the connecting part of the port has a brassish golden look to it, on all my systems the surface where the holes are is always black. THerefor, i believe that they are supposed to be black.
As for the part of you cleaning the port and getting blakc of, every time i clean my Gennys I also get black dust and dirt off of them, so i would say that is normal. If you are actually starting to see the gold though, I Think You Should Stop as it appears this is supposed to be black and you are Proably Removing The Paint or something.
Hope i helped. GENESIS ROCKZ! Game ON!

if you were into electronics and console modding like me, you'd know very well that that black is the little bitch anti mod weapon companies use to prevent hacking, or at least make it harder. solder will NEVER stick to that shit.
yes, the contacts are meant to be black. lol
