I just got my October issue of Maxim Magazine. There's an article about creating your own handheld system featuring Ben Heckendorn on page 62. Check it out!

Maxim, eh? Is he surrounded by a bunch of skinny girls in their underwear?
Well he ought to be! Heckendorn is a god in this hobby. I used his instructions to A/V mod my 2600 Jr and it worked like a friggin charm! :hail: Ben Heckendorn :hail:

Maxim is one of those magazines wherein the compulsion to say something funny or smart-alecky persistently trumps the opportunity to say something useful or informative. So I'm glad they at least plugged Ben's url in the article. It was the single most useful bit of knowledge in the whole piece.
To paraphrase the Maxim article: "Pull out the, uh, RF box and cartridge slot. Put some tact buttons on it. Wow, this is geeky. Next, um, solder a bunch of voltage regulators - whatever those are - on the board...if you've made it this far, you must still be living in your mom's basement."
Great. Thanks for simultaneously insulting modders and wasting my time.
