Just got an email over the grapevine: Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto will be doing autographs and doling out goodies Nintendogs-style at the Nintendo World Store in NYC this Sunday (Sept. 25th, 2005). Time: 11a-1p.
They are apparently going to be handing out a "Mr. Miyamoto" DS skin to people in line.
I myself do not plan on going, but thought some peeps around here would be jonesing to go. I am not a Nintendogs fan - don't even own a DS yet (want a black one).
There is also a Nintendogs fashion show or something like that on the 24th (Saturday) at Riverside Park 1-3p - something about fashion designer dogs by Hilton, Duff, something like that.

only the first 200 get autographs, and you better be damned right u better be in line atleast 8 hours ahead of time. I can see people brining their sealed legend of zelda's on nes and then selling them on ebay for over $2000.
Im only about an hour and a half from nintendo world store, but I simply dont feel like going there all set on autographs and be dissapointed to see the line a mile long when I get there.

Hmm.. Maybe I'll get up early and take the Chinatown bus from Boston into New York or something. I don't know.. depends on how I'm feeling and how far away the Nintendo World Store is from my dropping point.

It's a little weak because then only the plasticwrap gets signed.

I wonder if any1 had a complete and mint stadium events if they would get it signed. On one hand you are putting marker on your mint stadium events, but on the other hand you are getting it signed by miyamoto... Signatures usualy always raise value (if they are signed by someone of value that is)

I contimplated (can't spell, it's too early) bringing my NWC down for him to sign. One of a kind? Probably.
I would do it, but I don't have it in me to wait for 18 hours. I think the safest bet is to get there from 7pm on.

Tough call... to me actually. IF I had an NWC cart, I don't think I'd want anything (not even a signature of Shigy) on it. I'm not sure why, but thats the way I am. Getting him to sign a copy of SMB/DH however, thats fine.
If I lived in/near New York, I'd be all over this.

Was the original LOZ shrinkwrapped, or did it just have the black sticker like the other black box games?

man it sucked balls I was like the 220th person online but the thing that sucked the most was the fact that when i got on the line there were only around 130 people online. I only ended up with 3 ds skins they were giving out :(

I was going to go this morning, but well, it didn't work out. :( I'm kinda hoping that even if I did went, I wouldn't have gotten to do anything, so I don't feel so disappointed that I couldn't go.

Wow. I just got back from the event. 14 hours of insanity and insomnia.
I live in NYC, so last night I decided to leave my apartment at 2:30am - and after grabbing a bagel and coffee, I arrived on the 48th street & 6th ave block at 3:30am. There were already 130 people in line at that point (some had been there since 10pm on Saturday night!!). And boy, oh boy, there were all sorts of gamers there...^_^.
I went by myself, but I had my PSP and DS in tote. Before I knew it, I had a crew of people all playing various games on the PSP and the DS (mostly DS though). I must say that 8-player advance wars was awesome. And the Pictochat rooms were always packed with people. It was a lot of fun. Happy to say that I blasted away all the competition in Metroid in addition to having a great time trash-talking in picto chat (mostly saying that Naruto sucked, b/c I knew this would get people riled up! haha - I dont really think that Naruto sucks, never seen it).
So after much gaming and waiting and waiting and running into the Variety Cafe to use thier bathroom ALOT (too much coffee) - I finally got into the store at around 12 noon.
Reggie was just hanging out, so I went up to him and had him sign my Zelda Cube Collectors edition. I also got a pic with him. After that I continued to wait on line to meet God, I mean, to meet Shigeru Miyamoto. It was very quick, b/c there were so many people - but he was very nice. I greeted him in Japanese (Konichi wa Shigeru-san!) and slided my game cover to him for his signature, he gave me a nice picture as well and a funny little drawing that 's pictured below.
The original email said that only the first 10 people could trade Nintendogs with Mr. Miyamoto - but I took my DS and stood on the ground floot level, directly underneat where Shigeru was sitting one floor above. I picked up his dog that was still in Bark mode! So I got the Jack Russel Terrier breed from the dog meet-up - which is apparently a breed that is not available in the game by any other means. When I linked up with Miyamoto's dog, the recorded message played and it was his voice! "Hello, this is Miyamoto-san, you now have a very rare breed of nintendog, enjoy!" Very cool.
After that I hung for a while with the dudes that I met, watching MTV and G4 interview a few geeks and that was about it. I grabbed a few DS Miyamoto skins on the way out too.
Here's my pics...

I'm so damn tired. ZZZZZZzzzzzz - If every day was like this morning, I would NEVER sleep. Sitting on the sidewalk with hundreds of other people, who are all DS players was an unparalelled experience.

Geez, talk about some crazy fans. I was planning on getting up at 6:30 to leave at 7 and arrive at 8, but judging by that line at 3 in the morning, I bet the line was massive at that point.

i got there around 6:15 and i was like maybe 20 people behind jive3d , there were so many people cutting the line that was the main reason why i didnt get in the store. The way they organized it was so stupid they gave blue bands out like at 10 o clock to the first 200 people but the thing was that by 10 o clock a whole bunch of people cut the line and without bands you coulnt get in. The way they should have done it is as soon as you get on line there should have been a nintendo world employee handing out bands as soon as you got on line. i got around 3 feet from the entrance and thats when they gave us the bad news "sorry but he has finished signing". man i was so pissed they gave me 3 nintendo ds skins and i dont even have a ds. Sorry Aussie2B but if you didnt get there buy 5 o clock you would have been dissapointed.

You don't have to say sorry, it's good for me since not only did I not get to go, I would've gotten there too late anyway.
That really sucks for you, though. :( I would've been pissed as hell to wait that long only to get nothing because other jerks had to cheat the system. The email about this event kind of bugged me. With the way that they said the first 200 are "guaranteed", it suggests that the people past 200 might still have a chance. It's too bad they couldn't have squeezed in a few more people considering how long people had been waiting.
Hopefully this do this again someday, have it better organized, and then I'd know to leave much earlier.

Thanks Jive3D for the great pics! Some of us are so lucky that we live 3000 miles away from NYC that it wouldn't matter what time we got in line. It's nice to see some cool pics. Great idea for picking up the signal for the Bark Mode exchange. Did you get him to sign your Nintendogs game? I'd bet that a signed game with Miyamoto's dog on the card would become quite a valuable game in time too. :)
Too bad for anyone else that got shafted waiting in line for nothing. :(

A group of my friends were next in line for autographs when they stopped signing- right at the cutoff!! They were pretty pissed. Some of you might have seen them- one them a tall black guy wearing a Luigi hat (homemade) and one them a girl with a pink Peach Mario-style hat. She makes those hats and sells them.
oh and some people started chanting for a new Earthbound game too.

Just out of curiosity, what did most people ask him to sign (if anyone happened to notice)? Was it mostly current stuff? I was going to take my Super Mario Bros. 3 Famicom cart, just 'cause I figured he'd be surprised to see something like that. :P My boyfriend was going to take a Zelda 1 cart, our complete copy of Link to the Past, or our Famicom Mini Zelda.

Too many people had him sign thier DS - I couldn't bring myself to do it, b/c I wouldn't be able to use my DS anymore in fear that the dig would wear off!! - that's what the nift skins are for...
