I asked a seller if I only get charged for actuall rate without reading their policy. I was interested in two of the same items which weigh less than 5 ounces bombined. I also asked for priority shipping since the xharge is 8.95 or some random number, but it turns out that's for parcel post wihout DC. Keep in mind I haven't bought anythign from them. The response:

as noted in the auction, if you use buy it now, you may purchase up to 3 items and we will charge you shipping and handling on only one.
Must use buy it now for combined shipping and handling fees.
Regards,
Xxxxx

I sent this before I actually got their above message in return:

Hmm I see your promotion, buy 3 items with buy it now and get a shipping discount. May I please be granted the shipping discount regardless of if it's buy it now and I -just plain win 3 items- good enough? I am looking at 3 or more different items but they end soon, no one's bidding I think I'd be better off just putting in the starting bid. Otherwise the extra money spent on buy it now would cancel out the money saved on shipping and there would really be no saving anyway. Seems like priority mail would work too going by their flat rate assuming it was small items and they fit in the box, but if it has to be parcel post (6 days instead of 3) do I at least get delivery confirmation with that? Depending on the reply I get will have a big impact on what I buy, thank you.

No, Sorry. You have to use buy it now to get the shipping and handling discount.
Thanks for asking (..really now is that sincere you incessant beguiler? And thank you for adressing only one of the things I asked)

This is the latest email I sent, and awaiting response to:

SO in all seriousness correct me if I'm wrong, Shipping is going to be 27.00 when the package is going to arrive showing it only costed 4.95 assuming these are light items?

clock is ticking...

YEs Incessant Beguiler :P that was what I added in as a afterthought, just trying to be original.

Here was the response:

If you do not use buy it now, you will pay listed shipping and handling.
It is a much better deal, if you are going to purchase more than one item, to use buy it now.
Thanks

How about an upgrade to incessant wench, that's suiting. :P

Guess they missed the part about their next response having an impact on what I buy from them. They're probably only reading the first sentence of the messages before clicking reply. :hmm:

When you quote someone, it's generally understood that you don't alter the text of their comments.

At any rate, presumably the BIN is a higher amount than the expected high bid. Therefore the seller feels that they can offer an incentive to use the BIN by offering combined shipping via that method.

What's so hard to understand about this? As long as you're completely ignoring the basic details of the discount offer, why not ask him if he will combine shipping if you only purchase two items, or if he'll offer free shipping if you buy one item with the BIN?

Why not check those double posting habits there before insinuating what's generally acceptable Mr. protocol LOL

I also came into this problem with a seller on E-bay,I won 12 NES game auctions from dkoldies (sellers user name)
he charged me $48.88 to ship them and its not like it being shipped overseas, its with in the US,I complained to E-bay and they did nothing about it.I payed a total of $5.25 for the games and got big time screwed on shipping.
