View Full Version : List your game collection online! LOL!

Ok..I got really bored and a friend linked me to this, so I listed my game collection online at ign I know, it's silly, but it amused me. Feel free to check it out at: http://users.ign.com/collection/maxlords

Now..the really interesting thing is that that's not even my whole collection! A lot of PC, TG16, and other games that I have aren't even listed in their database, and neither are systems or strategy guides. I'd say that covers about 80% of my collection..maybe 85%, and even IGN says it's worth over $13,500...I wonder what the REAL value is? LOL

Anyway, that's something to do if you're bored or want to know what IGN gamestore would sell your collection for, etc etc. I liked the nice bar graph of my collection at the bottom, and while my favorite gaming system is NOT PC (although I have TONS of PC games) it did accurately get my favorite game company (Sega). :)

only problem with the IGN database is it's missing quite a few NES and SNES games and doesn't have any imports.

The guy who posted the Sega DC collection which received bids in excess of 3k got me thinking.

I have a complete DC collection with more than half factory sealed. How much would my entire game collection be worth if I posted it on ebay? I'll have to check this link out.

I spent ages putting mine together, and still came away frustrated from the utter lack of imports, and major-league omissions which covered some of my most valuable stuff (i.e. Power Lords and the Imagic & Parker games for the Odyssey2). The paltry number of Apple II titles was a bit annoying too - I know I've got more than 8 Apple games...just stuff too obscure for IGN's database.

Anyway, here (http://users.ign.com/collection/Phosphor_Dot_Fossils) for your amusement is my collection. Somehow I think the value estimate assumes that the games have never been touched by human hands - being charitable, at best, I would have priced my own collection at around the $4K-$5K mark.

My collection changes so often it'd be useless to do this.
Not to mention I'm too lazy to sit down and go through every single game I own.

Yeah...I noticed the same thing. All my SNES and NES were pretty much covered, but it didn't have ANY of the Neo Geo CD games I have, not even one! It also didn't have 3/4 of my TG16 collection which is mostly imports, and there were a lot of Mega Drive and Saturn holes in their database too. About 75-100 games got missed in my list, and some of those are my most valuable games too. It also doesn't cover systems, and doesn't list conditions...the conditions of some of my games make them worth a LOT more cause I bought most of em new. But it's still fun and free to do...so I'm not complaining.

Oh...and it DOES have imports...but not a lot of them. For example, it had my Duo Drac X, Mega Man: Wily Wars, Alien Soldier, Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie, Darius 2 (Genesis), Soukyugurentai, and Skull Fang, but it didn't have any of my Neo Geo CDs, most of my TG16 imports, or games like Eliminate Down, Langrisser 2, and others. The link at the bottoms says email them a game name and publisher and they'll add it to their database, so they know they're missing a lot, but I just didn't want to go thru the effort of doing that for the massive amount of games I was missing on the list.

Geez, they sure like pulling lists off the net and not verifying that games were never released, eh? The NES list is a freaking mess. Not only that, but they list several titles twice.... what a half ass job.

I think I'll just type up a list and HTMLize later....

I use excel and I try to mark stuff down right when I buy it and list where I got it and how much it was. It's a lot of work so I usually forget to do it, but when I do I can look back and have quite a bit of info about my collection.

Can be found on the link in my sig :)

I'm slowly (crawlingly) updating my website, but my game list is always up to date.

Well..I have all mine in Excel format as well...works fine for me...but I don't know how to post a bloody Excel spreadsheet in HTML so the IGN page was an easy way to give people a vague idea what I had.

I did mine awhile back though I've only put in my games for about a half-dozen systems so far. I noticed when I was inputting my Atari 5200 games that they were missing quite a few. You can write and inform them of missing titles and I did that but now I can't find the address to send that to. Perhaps I should just start my own small website where I would list my collection...then again, maybe I'll just type it up for my own use. About the same number of people would see that. LOL

I started a list a couple of years ago and have added to it every time I buy a new game. The total count is almost 900.

The atari 2600 list is HORRENDOUS.

They included ALL of Colecovision's games in the 2600 section, even though they have a separate coleco section. Mis-spells, carts that don't exist, ALLLL sorts of crap.

Heres a link to mine, I'm almost halfway done :)

Mistakes notwithstanding that is a pretty cool idea. But I'm wondering if they plan on using any of that data to give to their sponsors.

That thing is sweet. If only my collection was really worth that much. They seem to value every 2600 game @ $25. I put in Lochjaw and my collection was worth $25, then I added Combat and I was up to a whopping $50 total. :D

Genesis list isn't too bad, although they have a few red herrings in there, and most Japanese and European games aren't listed. If someone wants to buy my collection, let me know. :-D

I did mine a while ago, and you can find a link to it in my sig. There are a few games that I don't have listed, mainly to IGN's lack of completeness when compiling game lists.
