Had a lady buy a NES game from me on ebay, with shipping the total came under 5 bucks, so we're not talking about major funds here

at the bottom of the Paypal, I got a request I've never heard before

"If you use a padded envelope, please write hand cancel on the outside, this will avoid any breakage when ran through the canceling machines at the USPS. Thanks so much" O_O

Never heard this before, the 2 post offices I usually take things to either print up a sticker that says 0.00 on it, I never see any stamping on that when I get it, the other one is a small community one, puts on stamps, then uses a stamper with a date and location of that office on it.

Anyone ever get this request?

I am also curious, what does this mean?

My guess would be that the sorting machine would spit any letters who have "hand cancel" written on them. This way its being sorted by hand and not the machine. If this is the case I dont understand why. Never heard of any letters that get damaged from the postal sorting machine.
