I don't know anything about Xbox. BUt I can imagine that there are third party controllers out there that resemble the original. And by the way Cruzway, love your collection :)

Oh they exist alright. I've had both pirated Fatty and type s controllers (lying cunts that sold them to me should die).

The first thing to look for is the color of the plastic. a counterfit will have a different color then a real controller. It's very hard to notice so you have to compare them under a bright light.

Second the buttons aren't smooth on the counterfits. a true xbox button has a very smoth rounded edge but a counterfit has a hard noticeable edge. If you can slide from Y to B and only feel a slight snag then it's real, if your finger catches up or you feel a hard edge, then it's not. And the buttons just look diferent. Compare a counterfit to a real one and you can see the buttons look hollow. There's nothing filling in the bubbles that make the letters.

Thrid. Pirate controllers usually state manufacture in Malaysia. To date i've never seen a real xbox controller manufactured in that country and i don't even think MS has a Maylaysian plant working for them.

Fourth. The pirate controllers are missing the MS logo between the memory slots.

Fifth. Usually the two halves of the controller don't meet smmothly like on a real controller and you'll find the bottom peice sticks out just enough you can notice it sliding you hand over the side.

Sixth. Open it up. The conuterfit boards look dirty cheap and beleive me you can easily find a picture of the reall inner board on the web. Or i can take a pict my self if needed.

That's all i can recall off the top of my head, but check out Xbox-Scene (http://www.xbox-scene.com) and see if they can help. I'm pretty sure this subject has been disscussed on their forum before.

If you can post some picts i should be able to confirm it for you. Just get good shots os the buttons, the sticker, the space between the memory cards, and the side of the controller where the too peices meet.

Thanks man, is really hard to check if original or not, only comparing both in your hands

I have more questions, about sealed imitations, they're exist or these imitations always comes without package? How I will know if it's a imitation inside of package?

Do you know any source to buy really original xbox controllers for good price? Ebay is the worst way because sellers sold these conrollers like original

The ones i have came off ebay and I got a counterfit remote with them. Mine didn't come in boxes, but i'm pretty sure that if they're gonna duplicate the controller they're gonna duplicate the package too. Although it's probably of much lower quality then the original.

And now for some humour:
