Given enough time anything can be hacked. Take that Sony, we're still kickin' your hacker proof ass.

Why should we care? It was going to happen eventually and really doesn't even matter as of now.
Plus if its hacked, Sony will just release a new update to combat it. Eventually the fans of emulators might be stuck between not updating and losing out on new PSP games.

Why should we care?
There’s ALOT of work done by other people so the mass's can enjoy there toys in bigger and better ways. but if everyone adopts your attitude then nothing will ever get done. That and anything open source will just die out and everyone will have to pay for any and all software programs.
Personally I think this is great and will be a great step in renewing some PSP projects I've been working on.

so no one cares?
I care.
I don't have a PSP now, and don't intend to have one for quite some time. However when I DO get one, I absolutely must be able to run emulators on it. I was getting worried that the 1.5 units are quickly disappearing, while the 2.0 firmware was "bulletproof."
Now, I know there is hope.

I CARE :)
My PSP came with 2.0 on it and now I can enjoy the emulation goodness that everyone has been talking about.
Thanks a bunch

I find it amusing that the hack is based of a TIFF buffer overflow.
What utterly miniscule fraction of the population would ever bother viewing TIFF files with a PSP?
I decided not to bother keeping mine emulatable any more. The upcoming games lineup is looking great enough. LOL

hopefully it is really hacked and not buggy and will brick a psp system.

I wouldn't worry too much about holding on to an earlier version. It may take a little while after its release, but people will always find a way to hack a newer version.
I think this is great of course, since I'm a huge emulation fan. :D

This is basically a worthless hack right now.
There's no way to use this hack to run emulators. And most of the knowledgeable people say that you won't EVER be able to with this hack. :/
But it is a step in the right direction.

yeah I've been reading the same thing to. seems this is just a stepping stone.
good for me though since I have a 1.5. Sooner or later it's going to be worth more then I paid for it LOL
That is if 2.0 never gets hacked of course.
