View Full Version : Empty DS Slot 2

To me the system just feels wrong if nothing is in slot 2 so right from day one there's always been a GBA cart filling the slot. Although once the rumble add-on comes out it'll be replaced. I thought this was the norm, however the other day i encountered a person who always kept their slot 2 empty for some strange reason and i thought the guy was mad.
So is there any one on here who doesn't keep something in Slot 2?
I really don't mind keeping it empty, but I try to keep a copy of SMB 3 on it all the time. You never know when you'll be stuck somewhere for a long time and won't have the best game in the world.

Same here. Although sometimes i swap it out for A Link to the Past.

I keep Kirby NiD in the slot... Only gba game i own. I never play it, i just like to have something in the slot :D

I have never even put a cart in the slot since I bought it on release day, I see no reason to have cart inside the slot if you aren't using it.

I like to keep SOMETHING in there, just so the slot doesn't get dust or something in there. Same thing with my GBA Player.

I keep Mario vs Donkey Kong. Its a great game to start playing if your bored. Also, its the only GBA game I own, so I don't have much of a choice.

Small things like that do bother me, but I can't say that I stick a GBA cart in the other slot of my DS cause it feels weird.
That one is new to me :)

Here are my reasons for doing just what njiska described--some of which were already mentioned:
Spare game. I mean, c'mon... spare game.
Keeps foreign particles from the contacts.
It feels sturdier. You can push hard against the plastic wall, and it won't crack. I'm not saying it would otherwise, but you can't argue that an extra game doesn't increase the... sturd.
Well, there you have it. I don't understand why someone wouldn't keep a game in slot 2 if they could...

Ahaha, yeah. WarioWare seems like the perfect game for slot 2. It's so fun and quick.

The reason i and most people keep a cart in there is because without one there's just this huge open hole in the bottm. I find the DS is much more comfortable to hold with a cart in there. So that's why many people do it. Plus like CMTZ said it never hurts to have a copy of SMB3 handy.

I may be wrong, I'll check when I get home, but doesn't the users manual suggest that both slots be kept loaded so as to keep debris from clogging up the system.
I would do this anyway. I bought a copy of Namco Museum for $11 on launch day because I (a) wanted to try out the GBA function and (b) for the protection mentioned above.

I keep my Sonic Advance cart in my DS's GBA slot.

The only DS games I own are Kirby and the Metroid demo, so I keep a GBA game handy always. I had Metroid: Zero Mission in there for a LONG time. But, I finally picked up Shining Soul II. Not amazing, but good for a little bit of slashing. Keeping GBA games in for all reasons listed above, as well.
