Is it an extension of the TG16 like the sega cd is to the genesis or a totally seperate one?

It is stand alone.

Try Google next time.

The turbo duo is like the x'eye, an all in one unit. Technically, its the turbograx-16 unit plus the cd-rom attachment (upgraded with the super cd-rom 3.0) for it in one sleek unit. 'Tis a nice system says I.

Thanks LP that was very helpful, so it technically is an attachment but hard to find as one. I bought a box of stuff and theres also a PC engine game, so these PC engine games even though they are japanese can be played on the turbo duo?

Mmmm, i wouldn't say they are TOO hard to find, but they still fetch a pretty good price. Unfortunately, you can't play Japanese Hu-Cards on an American Turbo Duo. On the flip side, you CAN play any cd game on any system, as there was no region coding on Turbo/PC-Engine CD games. The only games you can't play on an American Turbo Duo would be the games that require the Arcade Card upgrade. For the hu-cards (and the Arcade Card upgrade), you'll have to seek out an adapter to play the Japanese games on an American Turbo Duo.

Or have the Turbo Duo region modded ;)

Don't be chicken to buy a TurboDuo. Also for what you can / can't play on different NEC systems check here...
