Which game is better Star Wars Tie fighter or Xwing?

What game do you think was better X wing where you played as the rebels or Tie fighter where you played as the empire.

Oh hands down TIE Fighter. I found it controlled better then X-wing and the impreial ships feel different from each other, unlike the rebel ships which are pretty much the same. Not to mention that the T/D is one of the greatests ships ever and the missle boats SLAM system is great for making a quick get away.

Tie Fighter by a mile.

I loved X-Wing to pieces and even bought both expansions, but the removal of the necessitation to complete the secondary objectives in Tie Fighter alone made it a far more enjoyable game, not to mention the unique change in point of view (instead of being a dirty anarchist, you're a patriot!). Plus getting that tattoo was just awesome.

Don't get me wrong, owning up the Imperial pigs in a B-Wing was pretty awesome, but there's no thrill like being in a fucking egg shell out in space :)

I don't really agree that the Rebel ships were pretty much all the same, though. They were varied enough to each be pretty unique, much like the assortment of Ties.


Not like it matters anyway, Wing Commander II destroyed both games :)

It's true that the TIEs are very much a like but what about the Assault Gunboat and the Missle boat? I found they were much different then the TIEs.

Let me first say that this was the era that I was into Computers. I bought every expansion to Xwing, and played it alot. I loved that game. Then I remember when Tie Fighter came out. I was blown away on how a good game could get even better. To me, the game was flawless, from storyline to missions. I absolutely loved this game and the endless hours of gameplay it gave me. If anyone has never played this game, and loves flight sims, PLAY IT IMMEDIATELY.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter.

Same great game engine as both X-Wing AND Tie Fighter, but with much better graphics. ;)

I played both games a lot back in the early 90`s, and Star Wars Tie Fighter is the best one. !!!

I loved being in the dark side of the force, and the graphics had been a improved too. Theres no way X wing could´ve been better than Tie Fighter

Yep, it's got to be Tie Fighter. I end up comparing every space action game to it, and so far none have quite overtaken it in my eyes.

Keep away from X-Wing Alliance. It's...well... meh.

EDIT *Shakes Fist* I really want to play TF now but the thought of trying to get it to work under Windows XP... *shudders.* I had enough problems with Windows 98 I recall. Still, I didn't have DOSbox then.. hmm...
