I tried this a while back and obviously what attracted me in the beginning was the fact that it was a Psikyo game. Worth noting that I really haven't given it much play time but I loved the arkanoid/shmup mix and the gfx are just to die for.

Must fire this up again tonight.

Yea, I just gave this a shot, and it was really quite fun. I also like the pinball/arkanoid/shooter mix. I just found the game too easy and short. I mean, would it have killed them to make some more levels for the game? Then again, we are talking about a largely shmup company here.

Anyway, it's fun and defiintely worth a shot. It took a bit to get used the fact that I could fire the enemies' shots back at them. I've never liked the single letter powerup for things, as I can never seem to remember which letter stands for what. The bosses were interesting, just a little too easy.

Wow. VERY fun title! I'm beginning to think Psikyo can do no wrong when it comes to the arcade business.

I've been a fan of Arkanoid for a very long time, and I always wanted just a smidgen more control over the ball than just having it tap off of a certain spot on the paddle. This game delivers that, all wrapped up in a disgustingly cute (and I do mean that in the best way possible LOL ) wrapper. It's just so over the top with kyootness, combined with bang-on control, beautiful graphics and sound, and this is now one of my favorite odd-ball arcade titles.

A big hearty "thank you" to whoever chose this one!

Oops, I forgot to mention that. It was Cryomancer's pick.

a shame to see so few replies, since this truly is a hidden gem of a game.

Maybe we should just play Shinobi every week. :)

Yeah, this was one my in-my-head list of games to pick from if I ever got another pick in the club after Mega Twins. It is a little easy, yes, but it's fun. I suppose for the genre it's fairly short as well, but the comment about them being a shooter company is probably about right.

However I don't think those are total flaws. A game doesn't *have* to be massively hard or long (insert beavis n butthead comment here) for me to enjoy it. This is one of those cases of a fun distractor for a little while. I'm glad that you guys seem to agree.

I have to agree, Gunbarich is a nice little obscure game that not many people know about. I like how they built the combo system; if you could play it right, you could get some insane points.

Is it just me, or does this game have a Christmas-y feel to it? Presents for power-ups, decorated houses, evil snowmen, etc.

And I figured that Cryomancer had picked this. Heh.

WOW, definitely a very nice surprise. Games like this are why I like this club so much. As someone mentioned above, this is a hybrid of pinball, Arkanoid, and a shooter. To me, it's more Arkanoid than a shooter, but it's good fun either way. Well worth a shot.

I have the game in my rom folder but it's one of the many games I haven't quite got around to play yet. No time like the present I suppose. :) I'll pop back later and let you know what I think...

I had tons of fun playing this one! Leave it to Psikyo to take the good old pong variant and warp the bejeezus outta it to make something fresh and addictive as crack. LOL I have always liked combo bonuses and score multipliers in arcade games... if you want your initials in that top 10, then you have to earn it buddy. 8-) I got some huge scores by flipping the ball behind the blocks twards the top of the screen and quickly picking up an "M" (Multiball) upgrade. While your army of spheres assaults the blocks concentrate of flipping back as much of the enemy bullets as you can. (Also works well in boss battles) I hit a triple digit combo once using this method! What an absolute blast, I can't belive I've had this game sitting there for almost 6 months. Thanks Cryo. It may have been 6 more if it wern't for your pick. :)

well, certainly a demented little game. the first boss is just plain scary. the second one is cute as hell, until he turns all psycho.

fun game, cool interactive playfields. love the flippers.

all in all definitely adds something to the genre.
