so, I want an actual answer...apparently Gran Turismo 4 is hard / impossible to get working on hd loader advance 2.0
please explain the reason behind this to me or tell me how to get the game to actually work.....i want to keep wear and tear off my ps2 dvd drive....the sole reason i got the hd loader advance set up
Yeah this is the reason I purcased the HD loader, but unfortunatly it doesn't work with DVD 9 discs. Not many games use this but GT 4 is one of them.

ive read things about hooking up the hdd to a pc and using some sort of utility to get the game to burn to the hdd correctly to enable play of dvd 9s....is this true...did i misread....or did i read that and that info was about something else??
Yeah I also read that somewere but I haven't tried it.

"Mode 3" Needs to be enabled!
How to do that?
Dont ask me :-P
I Have HD Advance 3.0 (PAL Version) and i usually transfer my games via FTP to the HDD...
If you have a mod chip then (I think) you can enable FTP access to the HDD too using a Memory Card Exploit... (HDAdvance 3.0 supports FTP without a Mod chip)
Anyways GT4 help, odd places that might be of help:

Good luck, the odd game can be funny with the HDD but still its an awesome piece of kit...

You should do a memory card exploit to your PS2 and upgrade your version of HDLoader. Hell, if you're using HDAdvance you're just using a bootleg anyway, so don't feel bad about downloading a patched up and updated version that fully supports DVD9 discs and whatnot :)

Also, another vote for WinHIIP. I use it to install games on my PS2 and just refuse to do things any other way. So much faster than using the PS2 DVD ROM and it's so much easier to manage your drive with it... it totally negates the minute or two spent moving the HD from the PS2 to the PC and back.

You need to flatten the DVD9 to a single layer ISO on the PC with the game in the DVD drive. Then transfer it over to the HD you are using for the PS2 by connecting it up and using WinHIIP.
Then boot up HDloader/HDadvance and enable mode 3 and bingo, you should be able to play :)
(this process applies to ALL DVD9 games out there btw)

Not to go too far off topic, but does WinHIIP work with non-modded consoles? As in can you copy isos to your PS2 HDD from your PC? I have the official Sony HDD and use HD Advance on an un-modded console.

Yes. Indeed, it's the only real way to definitely get import games onto your PS2 HD if your PS2 is not chipped.

Awesome. :) But now that means I'll be spending even MORE money on PS2 imports. 0.o
