Oooh, nice. I'm looking forward to this game. Good ol' Akira Toriyama. I know he's been their monster designer for a long time - did he invent the Slime?

those are the cool slime keychains from japan that are random and come in a little box.they are pretty cool,i always get them at conventions and my import shop.

It's hard to say if he invented the slime or not. Dragon Warrior was certainly the first console RPG and the token slime monster has been a staple in console RPGs ever since.

In the 50's, with the whole rage of atomic monster movies you had the blob, Definately a slime like monster. And I'm certain there's slimes in Dungeons & Dragons. However if they were original monsters I wouldn't know, they could have been added much later.

Dragon Warrior may have popularized the slime. But no Toriyama didn't invent the creature.

And I ordered two demos just for the keychains. *crosses fingers* Hopefully I get them.

Maybe it's like the Suikoden 4 promotion where they shipped out the soundtracks, coins, and wall scrolls seperately.

I'll go ahead and post this, even though it's about the SSX demo. Me and one of my internet friends were just talking about the SSX demo. But we seem to have different demos. His only includes SSX On Tour while mine has SSX On Tour PLUS From Russia With Love and Need For Speed Most Wanted. Now I don't have a PS2 and I'm not going to open it to make sure the demo inclues FRWL and NFS:MW, but still, what is the deal with this?

I got my demo of Dragon Quest VIII in the mail yesterday, and played through it today. Great art, music, and battle system from what I played (got to level the ninth). My only gripe is that it wasn't longer and couldn't save: my PS2 has been on for about 12 hours consecutively as I had to leave the apartment, and I only played about three of those hours.

Is anyone aware of an attempt to enable the saving/disable the protection against proceeding further in the game? This would be possible to accomplish with some elaborate GameShark/Action Replay hacking, no? I really can't wait to play some more of this.

WOOHOO! I received my slimes today!! 8-) Yes SLIMES plural! I got 2 of them in a small box with japanese writing all over it and it came shipped in a bubble envelope. One is green and the other one looks like yellow/orange but it's got claws and blue hair/fins. I love them! :D
