Well... i was planning to get one of those - but the price is way too "up there" for me right now...
Are we to expect a price drop on this PSP thing any time soon? After X-mas mayby? when the PS3 comes?
I was just thinking it would be smart to ask those questions the dp experts who were watching price drops since Atari was around :]

I think it is possible for Sony to drop the price for the holiday season, you know, since they dont really have any games and the DS is going to have a killer Fall/Winter. Perhaps around the launch of the Nintendo WiFi connection. All I know is that I am super pissed that I paid 250 dollars for a system that I hardly ever touch...and that I don't foresee touching in a while.

But touching is good!
Sorry. I couldn't help it. :embarrassed:

I'd guess around the release of the PS3. Can't afford our $900 console? Buy our $200 portable!
What complicates matters though is the bundle it comes with. Dropping the bundle puts the system at $200 as it is, so will they just drop the bundle, lower the price of the bundle, or do both?

what about the DS? are they sticking to 129 or is it going down a bit more?

I don't think that they will drop the price anytime soon, but I could see them releasing a non-value pack in time for the holidays. It's a tough call. With the release of GTA at the end of next month, that may be enough to sell a bunch of systems for the holidays. The games that have come out thus far do a good job of showing off the system's abilities, but I don't think that they are going to attract many people who haven't bought the system already. I certainly don't regret buying mine, but I will admit that I don't play it much, and I would if it had some games that I wanted to spend more time playing, like an RPG or game like GTA. Everything that's out right now is a 'sit and play it for a little while' game. I want something that I can get into enough to play it for hours.
As far as the DS price going down more, I highly doubt it. Their price structure right now is good. 79 for an SP, 99 for a micro, and 129 for a DS. If the DS were to go to 99 now, it would kill the sales of the micro and SP I think.

DS isn't going anywhere for awhile now.
I really want the PSP to drop soon too, because I want to get it at a store so I can get a warranty plan. If it doesn't drop within the month (because I NEED to buy one of these things) I'm just going to buy it off someone from here or at CheapAssGamer for around $165 or something. $250 is too damn much for a handheld and I will NEVER pay that much for one.

Knowing Sony's previous moves, they are going to just sit back on this one. PS2 took a few years (or more like a year and a half) to even budge from it's original price.
