i've seen there are...ps1, saturn, and duo ports of this lovely little beat 'em up. which do you recommend?

There are only PS and SS ports. The PC-Engine version is a port of Tenchi wo Kurau (the first one). Of course, the best port is going to be MAME. AFAIK, the SS and PS version are pretty much identical.

Yup in the u.s arcades it was.
The 2nd one for the arcades was retitle as, Warriors of Fate.

Yeah, and if you can, get the arcade ones :D I have the Dynasty Wars PCB as well as the Duo game. If the sound worked on my board, I'd say it was the better of the two :P
As for the ports, I recommend the Saturn version of Tenchi Wo Kurau 2, unless you can get the arcade version.
BTW, good luck on both arcade versions....Dynasty Wars is quite rare, and Warriors of Fate is a CPS1 game, meaning it has a suicide battery and when it dies, it's TOAST.
