Well, I've just about hit 3000 unique games. It's been a long strange trip and I'm finding myself starting to slow down on my game acquisition, but, I figured I'd go ahead and share the pictures of my collection as it stands now.

At this point, the "collection" (minus a couple of my cabinets that won't fit through the door), have been moved into my basement which we recently completed the "finishing" of. All the shelves you see were built by myself and the various family members who helped run this production. They're all made from MDF and have been primed, and painted. We routed out slots to seat them in and toe-nailed them into place. They're all firmly fixed to the wall via a cross board 2x4 that I could do pull-ups on.

Thanks to my Dad for preventing my seemingly inevitable electrocution with your experience and wisdom while doing the wiring and for helping to seat the monstrosity we built that went around the air ducts

Thanks to my father in law for nearly everything else. Drywalling, framing, insulation, woodworking; the man does it all.

Thanks to my wife, my sister-in-law, my mother, my mother-in-law, and everyone else who played a part in helping to finish that damn basement. It was a labor (and I do mean LABOR) of love.

And, the obligitory (just kidding!) thanks to Joe and his team for hosting this site and providing us a place to post our collections, our thoughts about our collections, and to yell at each other about our thoughts about our collections.

Regarding the collection itself, highlights include complete US 32X, Sega CD, and Sega Master System collections (Dick Tracy is on it's way now) and a 99.5% complete US Saturn Collection (Daytona Netlink... WHERE ARE YOU?). I’m also proud of my arcade collection. Getting them into the basement was awesome. Tekken 4 nearly crushed me when we slid it down the stairs.

Thanks for taking the time to look. We put a lot of hard work into it. As always, comments are very, very, welcome.

Very nice collection. Your blessed with plenty of space. Paricularly like the System boxes (Steel Battalion also) in the nifty shelving behind the Wega...

Why only a 50' DLP...?? :)

Awesome collection.

The main feedback I have is that you should invest in some more n64 games :)

That truly is a room of doom.

Really, if I ever set foot in there, that would be the end of me right there. x_x

First of all, thanks for all the kind words on the collection. When I first planned out all the shelving, I was sitting on about 2000 games and built with expansion in mind. By the time it was finished, I was 1000 games richer, with a lot less free space.

Odds are good I'm going to have to push my shelving project further along the walls and re-arrange the arcades. I don't plan on expanding back into the room I was in.

As to questions and comments:

WTF are you going to do if you ever have to move house? O_o

Undoubtably, all the shelving will remain with the house. The question is if I'll leave the shelves up or tear them down. I suspect that will be up to the buyer.

that is awesome, but i cant imagine how much the shelving cost...

It wasn't cheap. The total bill on the shelving was something to the tune of $1300. The MDF alone was $600. The total cost included some new tools, new saw blades, truck rental fee, paint, and all the other odds and ends. We used sheets of 3/4" x 49" x 97" MDF and cut as needed.

Awesome collection.

The main feedback I have is that you should invest in some more n64 games

I've got a few N64 titles, mostly the "decent" ones. I'm not a big fan of the system though, and I doubt I'll ever actively persue any sort of large collection of them. That said, I still need to get Sin and Punishment...

blissfulnoise has a great collection, I've seen this one in person and I couldn't believe how big it was at first... it looks even bigger in person. Great pics!

Thanks guy! I'll see you tonight for some KoF and VO action!

That's cleaner and more organized than most stores I've been in. NICE JOB! I LOVE the cabinets and how everything has its own place.

Thanks Flack, coming from someone with the cabinet collection you do, that means something. I'm still envious of your seperate "arcade". That's an idea I'm still trying to plant in my wifes head.

Love the Cloud sword..... Seriously dont mess with that woman

She actually made that; I'm not very creative in that way. She did a whole Cloud as seen in Kingdom Hearts costume a couple of Halloweens ago (for me). I wish I still had the Keyblade she made awhile back, that was pretty impressive too.

Blissful, you have one of the most beautiful set ups I've ever seen, I love it. Those sega collectiong looks fucking amazing and I also liked those classic pc games you had there, saw all awesome titles in there! It's my dream to someday have a basement room dedicated to all my game collecting.
