The Earthbound fanboyism of this board is only equal to its Dreamcast population.

HAIL DREAMCAST!

And while I'm at it...

HAIL EARTHBOUND!

Although, truth be told the reason I lost a TON of trust in Nintendo was due to the Earthbound fiasco with the N64. Now that I know that it is supposed to be coming out for the DS, I will definitely NOT be purchasing a DS until it is, in fact, released.

Finally, A sequel to Earthbound or at least another one in the series that will be done. There is a TBA for mother 3 for the GBA but I think that will be like mother 3 for the N64, Delay until death of the system. I will buy a DS for this, and I will learn japanese just so I can enjoy the story if it never makes it to the states.

It sure looks that way.

It looks like a cutesy RPG, for sure.

It looks like a COOL RPG.

Granted, I would like to see a new "Mother" game... But I'm cool with any interesting game.

Mother 3 is still coming. Probably to the DS. Probably from Brownie Brown.

i have no hope for this series ever seeing another release over here. I wish they wouldn't have released the only one they did... Taunting bastards.

I think the possibility of Nintendo bringing it out over here would actually be very high. The slow price increase of the original game over the past five years has definitely not been ignored by them, and Earthbound is about the only RPG outside of Paper Mario that Nintendo can make an exclusive.

I still think that Mother 1 + 2 would have sold well enough to bother translating it, but it never made it over anyways. I figured the time of us getting screwed out of RPG's ended in the mid ninties, but this was the one I always knew would have done well, but they didn't bother.

If they didn't bother with that, I doubt they would with any future releases.

Do you have evidence of this?

We need evidence of the game being fucking expensive on ebay? :P

And you know Nintendo is taking notice of this because?

If your theory is true, Bandai should be falling all over themselves releasing Stadium Events for the DS.

Stadium events was not popular. So, no that's not true. Earthbound was, in a cultish sort of way.

There's two things that drive demand (besides good marketing)for a videogame...how good a product is and how rare it is. Stadium events is rare, but it blows. Earthbound is not too rare, but it demands a fair price because it is a lot of fun and is unique.

I'm not debating that Earthbound doesn't have a cultish following. I just don't think Nintendo looks at ebay when they decide to reprint a game. Therefore, I'd like some real connection between Nintendo's noticing how Earthbound is still popular and deciding to bring it to the states.

I'm fairly certain Mother 1+2 would come out here if Mother 3 ever makes it out of development for the gba or whatever the fuck it's being developed for now. Probably still GBA.

Well, Miyamoto has said differently in the past...

We had high hopes for Earthbound, the Super NES version, in the US, but it didn't do well. We even did a TV commercial, thinking, "Hey... this thing could sell three million copies!" But it didn't. You might not know this, but there was a petition in the US, a 'Please make Mother 3' petition and it got about 30,000 signatures! After that, we though "Wow... Earthbound fans are really solid".

By the way, that quote comes from the Nintendo Official Magazine in the UK on September 14th, 2003, just in case anyone wants to challenge it.

Ok, I'm satisfied :)
