I presume this is just one of the NHL games, under a different title ... but I've certainly never seen it before.

Anyone else got any info on it?

well my first thought was

"this gotta be scandinavian"

read the auction text, yeah, it's the swedish version, never seen an EA sports game with changed title before though, would be interesting to see if it's 100% the same or not, maybe it features their league?!? i bet their series is called Elitserien

ok, here we go

i checked my ROM archive

these exist

Elitserien '95
Elitserien '96

they are basically NHL 95 and 96 but with the swedish league instead of the NHL, so, yes, these are additional games needed for a full PAL set imho :o

sorry james but that is just wrong

they are not variants or akas, they are different games and need a seperate entry. they are not just translated or anything, they feature a completely different hockey series, just with the same game engine.

I'm not really involved in this, but I'd have to agree. If the teams and players are entirely different, then I'd say it's a different game. This is more than a label variation.

In situations such as these it would be good to have a way of hooking together related games such as these without the 1 to 1 aka relationships.

VGR is looking into doing this as part of a Series / Chronology function...but I guess in the interim we will probably break them out too.

actually not a problem, he can leave those aka titles in the NHl games or mention them in the description and do the same in the new elitserien entries, that way they are connected through AKA but they still count as extra game

I guess that is a fundamental difference in the VGR database to the way DP does theirs.

We have a central title that hooks all the regional & packaging variations to a single source. Of course in the instance here, a single title doesn't work since there are more than just language and title screen changes as they totally swapped out the leagues.

So I need a hierarchy that allows Series->Titles->Regions

Yeah, you're probably right on this one - looks like another Brian Lara '96/Shane Warne Cricket situation. I hadn't really looked into it yet, but I'll do so when I get the chance.
