View Full Version : Q#Bert - Question about the box
hey,
I own the game Q*Bert, but on the box it says at the right bottom 'by JVW Electronics'. Is this normal? In the database I found Atari (this is also printed on the box) x_x

i will check my (PAL) version tonight.
Gottlieb was the manufacturer of the original arcade machines - maybe JVW is some small company helping with the VCS release as I don't think that Q*bert was programmed in-house.

Gottlieb sold out to another company. But I don't think it was sold directly to JVW, I think they came later. Original Parker Bros releases have copyrights to Gottlieb. Atari picked up home license from JVW in the late 80s as they were then the current owners of the Q*bert name. This was back when they were re-releasing all those old games for the Atari JR. All Atari Q*bert boxes have that on them. The Donkey Kong & DKJRs have Nintendo on them, Mouse Trap & Venture have Exidy on them. It's just the respective copyright owners.
