fool me once.. shame on you..
fool me twice.. shame on me.
ARGG... That guy purchased that reproduction from me just 2 weeks ago!! The paypal address was identical to that seller's name!
What the heck am I supposed to do with people like this? As it stands, he's the first customer ever on my black list.
I was selling these games as a service to gamers.. I don't want them ripped off!!

You should hit "Submit Best Offer" and offer him what he paid you for it. ;)

I knew that was your reproduction before I even clicked the link. It's unbelievable that people would take advantage of yuor amazing service and try to profit majorly from it. Like the people selling EB0 for a rediculous amount... :(:(. You should definitely contact that seller and ask him what the hell his problem is.

Why isn't in his right to sell it? He bought it, it's his property, and unless you said there's some reason why they can't be resold, I don't understand the anger here. Maybe some annoyance, but it's undeniably his right to do what he wants with it.

You're absolutely right. But that doesn't mean it can't be frowned upon. I know I have seen him around in the past, he may have even bought something from me. I'm not positive here, but he may be a DP member.

That's the same guy that sold the Earthbound repro for $600. Geez, what a low-life. Taking advantage of others' services just to make a few extra bucks...
It's wrong because he flat out lies in the description and he's keeping the bidders private so they can't be warned.

You could report him to ebay for selling "pirated carts".

True , but it also LeonK's right to now blacklist this guy from buying reproductions from him again ;)

Getting NES games burned is a cheap service that many are willig to do. Hell a repro of ANY nintendo game is only worth about $10 USD tops to me anymore, cause it's just to simple to make your own.

True, but the thing is that he doesnt write its a repro. He writes like its a retail game and very rare. Therefor he might fool someone to pay alot for something that isnt worth that much. But if he wrote that it was a repro/homemade cart I wouldnt see the problem.

He is definitely at fault if not for anything else than by telling people he has a rare retail game, deception is evil.

I have a much, much, better idea, next time he tries to pull that and allows people to bid on a repro, send all of the bidders a link to your website and offer them a $5 discount or something (or maybe not a discount, but if you do, I am bidding on something he has :) ).
I used to do this with the (get a xbox for $20) auctions. I used to have a list of like 50 matrix sites, and anytime I was randomly searching ebay for games and saw that somebody was bidding on one of these, I would send them my entire list and told them that they should try to retract their bid if possible. if somebody really wants to try and use a matrix site for games, why should a measily $20 stray them away from getting ripped off

The problem is the seller had that covered by making it a private auction which doesn't show bidders emails.

Dear portnoyd, your offer has been declined on the following eBay item:
Your offer price: US $25.00
Current price: US $300.00
Time left: 5d 08h 55m
Seller message: ha ha ha... times that by 10 and we can talk.
Hey genius,
http://www.nesreproductions.com/
It's a reproduction. I'd take that $25 if I were you. $250 for something I can get for $30? ROFL you're really stupid, huh?

I would just leave him be. He knows what he's doing. If you think that people would be stupid to buy this then what about those others that buy peices of toast that look like Jay Leno for ten times the price. I'd rather get fooled into buying a false video game than buying a piece of food that looks like a celebrity.

Also buyer is set to private most likely because hes afraid someone will tell him where to get it for ~$30

hehe, I sent him a question asking why, if it was so hard to find these days, it is easily available at www.nesreproductions.com

Actually he's pretty smart for doing that. There's too many meddling people out there who ignore eBay rules about auction interferance.
While it may be frustrating he's not breaking any eBay rules.

In the first auction it seems that he added that it is a repro (he didnt do this at first what I can remember). When he relisted it he didnt write that it was a repro.

I mean he pretty much comes and says where the game comes from. IMO , it is uninformed bidders and "n00bs" who are to blame. I dont blame the seller for keeping the bidding private.
I can see where this would get some collectors fired up though :/
And isnt that A label from LeonK ? :hmm:

Seems to be the same label LeonK uses. Atleast the guy who had this auction clearly (well, caps atleast) wrote that it was not the prototype.

I don't want to start a controversy, but I was the seller in that EB0 auction. I hope that you all believe me when I say that I did not intend to trick anyone in the slightest. I received 17 questions about that item, and everyone I responded very truthfully and made it clear that this was a homemade cart and not the prototype. Like my auction said my NES broke and I sold off all my games. I would of kept that cart, but I am just a poor college freshman who needs all the money I can get. I hope you guys understand that I did not mean to trick anyone.

no offense, but the auction was still a prick's trick.....
I mean, leonk is doing this as a service to the gamers, and, well, it's just that profiting from his work by selling to mindless ebayers who think every EB 0 cart is rare and OMFG "hard to find", is just plain wrong....also, did anyone ask how you got the cart, and if they did, how did you respond?

How many repros are there of EB ? If LeonK (and all the others) stopped making them they would be pretty hard to find. However I do agree that its wrong to announce them as "OMG RARE!!!11".
On the other hand, its a product that you own and your free to sell it to whoever you like, as long as you write that its a repro cart.

Oh Please,
So are you suggesting that once somebody purchases a repro from leonk they are bound to keeping the game for the rest of their life? It becomes a sort of family heirloom that passes down from gereration to generation because it can never be resold?
Its called business, buy low and sell high. Some do it for a living and others just sell of odds and ends that they own in the hopes to make a few bucks as it appears to be with this guy. As long as the auction description is clear in that the cart is a reproduction and not a prototype the seller isn't doing a damn thing wrong.
If the high bid was only $25 would you be complaining? I doubt it. It's only because a few ignorant bidders overpaid for this item that you're upset but again, this isn't the seller's fault.

Heck, I bought some off ebay from a well-known DP member, but he had BIN prices comparable to what leonk charges. I picked up FF3 and another .. can't remember.
As for the seller in question "420pinballer" He has a pretty impressive collection and isn't too bad to deal with when it's legal. I sold him my M-82 for a good chunk of change and just last month he picked up a complete in box Stadium Events "off-ebay" for only $500 (for those of you who want to hate him more).
I think reselling to repros is dirty, but he has to live himself and we all will likely blacklist him from future dealings .. buying or selling.
