It's to be expected isn't it? Most of the posters you speak of probably weren't around when these systems existed, and I don't think G4 tries all that hard to educate them about it either. They're not stupid, they simply lack knowledge. Stupid would be if they wanted to know but couldn't manage the second grade education needed to do the research. These people probably just didn't happen to know and didnt care to.

I like Icons and Cinematech....less talky..and hearing the people behind each company....more fun...then watching a bunch of hot chicks talk about video games....

I'm sorry, but give me a real gamer to talk to me...not some skinny-no-boobed slut who claims to know games, but I don't think reading a que-card counts as "Knowledge" (who probably showed up to the set and said "I like Pac-man" and was hired on the spot probably...)

G4 definitely keeps getting worse and worse with all the tuner car crap and Fastlane, all shows that have nothing to do with games. Filter used to be interesting when it was about games, now it is a waste of time. Attack of the Show and G4TV.com are totally pointless (AOTS wasn't always). Cheat was never my thing to begin with, but it was better before they replaced the dorky guy with a chick.

Icons and Cinematech remain alright. XPlay is actually pretty entertaining and gets it right a good amount of the time. These are the only shows on G4 that seem to be geared to hardcore gamers as opposed to mainstream gamers. Judgment Day and Electric Playground are also passable when you come to terms with the fact that Tallarico is not taking it seriously.

I liked Filter before because it was a straight-up list show, along with opinions of what was missing from the list and why. Some of the choices were pretty wacky (Didn't Secret of Mana have a sequel? Or prequel or whatever?) but I have an obssesive trait of reading lists no matter how lame they are, so it worked for me.

Now it's "BUY THESE NEW COOL GADGETS FOR THE YEAR!" and "LET'S GO TO JOE/FRANK/WHATSHISNAME AND WATCH HIM BE AN ASS!". It stopped being Filter and more like something else.

I don't hate G4 anyways. Didn't like it at first, although it's kinda grown on me. Barbed Wire Biscuit's fun to watch, AOTS is too if the right guests are on (Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory was on and beat Kevin at a drum duel). No, it isn't top-notch quality programming. But yes, it's better than all the other shit we get on cable over here anyways.

I used to be an avid g4 nut. when it merged, i still watched it like crazy, but then i started noticing things.

here is one:
when they show people who post about certain games, write down their name, and wait. in fact, write down all of their names. it is always the same 9 or 10 people that get their post put on the show. back when i first started posting in here, i used to post in their as well.

i stopped watching g4 out of necessity (i moved out of my parents house and didn't want to pay for digi cable). i really did not enjoy that channel as much as i used to when i tried to go back to it.

we may have people 15 or younger here on these boards, but it is very hard to tell. on the g4 boards, you know who is what age. the people that post on there are the "gta rox, halo rox, madden rox, everything else sux" type of people. now, don't get me wrong, there are some posters out there that know a thing or 2 about a thing or 2 when it comes to games, but the majority of the posters there are children.

I am not trying to say "stay away from those boards" by any means. In fact, I was a member there and I see no reason why other people can't be members, I am just making an observation.

Now with filterator. Most of the people, if not all for some of the voting, are voters from the board.

A good example of how they deal with posts is like the movie anti-trust. if any of you have seen that movie, there is a scene in the beginning where the main stars are watching the other guy through a webcast and ask him a serious question, but the webcaster ignores it and reads off a dumb question.

Now you may be asking yourself, "what do the g4 boards have to do with the channel?"
filterator - here is a good question, when was the last time you, yes you, the person reading this, voted on something for the filter show? Where do you think most of those votes come from?

g4tv.com - when they read viewer posts, well, they are reading posts from the board, enough said

I can't think of any other shows that allow for viewer input. If you don't like the results of a show, look at the sources of where that information is coming from.
