Xbox-Linux have put together a fairly in-depth look at the Xbox 1.0 manufacturing process over in Hungary. Plenty of pictures, so those with bandwidth concerns have been warned! You can view these pictures here (http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Xbox_Manufacturing_Process_Pictures).
This guy loves what he does :) Now I know why Microsoft don't do home deliveries...

I always imagined it involved sacrificing a goat at some point.

You're aiming too low, they sacrificed a virgin.
The picts are sweet though. It's kind of cool to see how it's made.

How do you suppose they went about making Xboxes with Thompson DVD Drives? Scrapping the parts from out of a toilet? :P

Why doesn't everyone just show the customer how the product is made? I think that would be a huge selling point. I was going to buy the Messiah controllers anyways, but when Brad posted those pics of the manufacturing process it made me feel more connected with what I bought. I can understand that there may be some "secret" something that companies don't want their competitors to know about but they don't have to show every single step of the process. Just show me an empty case with a hot assembly line worker dropping the guts into the machine. Hell, they could make a fake assembly liine and take pics just for PR.

No they took what floating in the bowl to make those. The only plus of a Thompson drive is the DVD+RW capability.

That's what I meant to imply. Admittedly, I could have done a better job phrasing my response

Heh. Those pics were pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing!
I wonder if they (the employees) get any cool perks...like a free X-Box or what not. :wink 2:

I would say they do, employee discount must be very generous

Didn't know the xbox was made in Hungary. I lived there for a short time back in the early 90's.

ROFL
I laughed for literally a minute when I saw that. Those computers are all over my college campus.
My stomach hurts even.
