View Full Version : Have you ever shut off your DS by accident while playing?

OMG! I did this while playing Lunar most recently. The pace is slow enough in that game by itself. I had saved fairly recently, but damn. This has happened to me about two or three times prior to this during some other games (don't recall which ones). I wish the on/off button was either in another spot or it was a side to side switch. I would'nt mind if the select/start and on/off swapped sides. JMO.

Edit...
I was'nt trying to pause it. I spend a lot of time on the road (no, not driving while playing). I'm playing while the driver is doing their thing. If the car takes a bad pothole, the old steady the DS as not to drop it... and the powerbutton is hair trigger. Oh well. Does not make it unplayable. Just makes it "interesting" (unlike my xbox sound goes bad after an hour or so of playing, replaced cables, unit clean, diagnosed not to be heat problem etc.).

I've never had that problem yet. Especially since you have to hold it down for a second before it actually turns off.

My on/off switch is too responsive. No delay. If it gets pressed, it powers off.

Never had any nintendo hardware issues before.

Now it just makes me a save maniac. Wow, I just fought a nothing creature. Save. Hey, just talked to the farmer. Save. Etc. Save. Etc. Save. ....

Yep. Nintendo made your DS differently. Lucky thing, you.

My g/f did this just yesterday while playing Nintendogs. I'm not sure what she meant to press but commented that she would prefer the power button to be in a different spot.

I personally have never had a problem with it, but everyone is different. :)

I've never done it, but I have noticed my thumb precariously fingering the button a few times. But I always manage to catch myself before I actually press down.

I remember doing this a few times when I first got the system, but not really since. I think the button layouts are pretty well done.

True. But I'm an idiot.

"okay one sec...just gotta pause"
...
"wtf why isn't this thing pausing?"
...
"oops..."

Yes, I've done the stupid push it thinking that its the pause button. I don't now why I don't remember that the pause is on the right, not the left. LOL

I hate where the power button is, I used to turn my system off accidently all the time. Now Im used to it, but I still would prefer it to be on the top or side like a GB.

I feel your pain. I only shut off by accident twice, though--when I had first gotten a DS. I definitely think the power button could have been better placed, but it's no longer a problem for me. Look on the bright side: You can reach it without shifting your hand. So, I guess you're less likely to drop your DS...

Yeah, I had to stretch for that one.

I've shut it off accidently, but fortunately not while playing a game. More because I wasn't paying attention and pressed the wrong button. @_@

Same here. I'm really not sure why that is...what other system even has a pause button in the top left?

I've never accidently turned off my DS. However, I've often accidently hit the shoulder buttons during play (thanks to the SNES and other consoles using shoulder buttons, I hold my controller and, therefore, my DS, with the index and middle fingers covering the shoulder buttons).

Been using my DS for some time now, and have never hit the power button by accident (have not even come close to it).

I just can't see doing that. Maybe its just how I hold the thing. ;)

I have thought I was hitting pause when I first got the system. Thats a bout it. My friend could palm a watermelon, he says he does sometimes just because his fingers or so long.

I also have done that... damn these buttons... I like the normal style of power buttons. I also dislike the PSP's digital volume buttons, I wish it was analog like the other handhelds.
